This appears to have been fixed in rng-tools 2-unofficial-mt.10-3, so
this only affects hardy and dapper. Given that it has an easy
workaround (replace 't' with 'h' in the config file and ignore the
manpage), I do not believe it is serious enough to warrant a stable

Thanks for the bug report and the discovery that the failure doesn't
matter. I'm closing the bug as Invalid based on the fact that the
creation of hardware nodes (which happens to work for me and be
discarded at next boot) is completely irrelevant to the function of rng-
tools. One could wish
Installing the upstream 3.1.4 package did not solve the bug for me, but
for the record, here's the direct link to the bug:
