Was the recent update for Karmic supposed to be the fix? I updated my
friend's mscore and the problem is still there. I do notice it is in

I removed Bluez and other bluetooth software.
I also commented out everything on this little section here in
/etc/pulse/default.pa:

Sound worked when following the prescribed inststructions. I also saw
some sort of debug information on the notes (if that's at all relevant).

By hangs, what do you mean? Unresponsive? That might be the limitations
of the keyboard, as certain ones are only allowed to have a certain
amount of buttons pressed at the same time (it's cheaper to manufacture)

It seems that this was a problem for a while in Jaunty. Gtick uses OSS,
and uses the sound hardware directly, not through Pulseaudio. Since the
PA suspender did not work, this is an OSS problem. I installed the alsa-
oss package and ran 'aoss gtick' through a terminal, but it did not work
either.

I've never been able to pinpoint what causes the crash. Sometimes it has
crashed while entering a note, sometimes when moving the play cursor,
etc. I am doing a small project for myself, and I will use the terminal
and also be much more aware of what happens. The score file that caused
that crash
