The goal of colormake is to add side effects to the make command (add colors to
the output).
Some scripts use make and may be very broken if the output of make contains
colors added to the normal output.
Replacing make by colormake will have desastrous (and hard to debug)
side effects.

pcscd needs to be started _after_ hal.

You should not have to rebuild pcscd if you use a version of pcsc-lite
= 1.5.4 (June 2009)
- if RFAddReader() fails with the libhal scheme then we try with the
(old) libusb scheme. This patch should allow proprietary drivers to
work even if pcsc-lite is compiled with libhal support.

It is not pcscd but, maybe, libpcsclite.so.1.
You should provide a debug backtrace of the crash. Execute in a shell:
$ /usr/bin/firefox -g
This should start firefox in the gdb debugger. Then enter
(gdb) run
and wait for the crash. Then enter
(gdb) backtrace
and add the generated trace to this bug
There is no link between pcscd and firefox.
The crash should be in the PKCS#11 library you have configured in
Firefox for the Siemens HiPath SIcurity card.
Uninstall the PKCS#11 and try to reproduce the crash.

of flock(). I don't remember when this option was added.

This is not a bug. The calendar is a GTK+ widget. Since GTK+ 2.0 it is
no more possible to fix the first day of week (from the application).
If you want to change the first day of week you need to change your
locale setting.

Is it a problem/limitation in the omnikey (pcsc-omnikey package in

source code so we can't fix it.
