When I use Octave with wxWidgets (added 'setenv(GNUTERM,wxt)' in
/usr/share/octave/3.2.2/m/startup/octaverc) and do a plot, I get the
proper wxWidgets gnuplot window. But only the buttons 'Help',
'Configuration' and the 'Copy to Clipboard'

When using wxWidgets some buttons in the plot window don't work

use the keyboard layout 'USA alternatvie international'. This works fine
in all applications except texmaker. The option 'separate layout for

When Gnuplot is started directly from the terminal it uses terminal type
wxt by default, which gives you extra options like zooming into a plot
etc. But when Gnuplot is started by Octave for plotting, terminal type
x11 is used, resulting in

I see this problem with gnash 0.8.6-0ubuntu1 on Karmic amd64 with all
updates applied until today: Sometimes the process gnash-gtk consumes so
much memory, that my computer almost freezes (login on tty takes around
1 min) until it is stopped.

You have to change the UUID in 'root=UUID=89c07ebd-cc8e-4d65-be8d-
e4db7fbfef06 ro quiet splash' to match your Jaunty's UUID. But every
time, your kernel in Karmic gets updated and the grub.cfg is updated as
well, this setting gets lost and is overwritten with Karmic's UUID.

Unfortunately, it does not seem to be fixed. Did a new install of Karmic
Beta amd64 and tried to connect over wireless to this (http://www.cms
.hu-berlin.de/dl/netze/vpn/openvpn/Ubuntu9.04/ unfortunately only in
German) network via openvpn. First, I got the above mentioned wrong VPN
secrets
Okay, with network-manager 0.8~a~git.20090923t064445.b20cef2-0ubuntu1
from a daily-live 2009-09-28 running on a USB-stick, it works. When Beta
is out, I will do an installation on my hd and check again.

Same here, Karmic Alpha 6. I didn't have any problems/errors intalling
Karmic, but in the grub.cfg the uuid for Jaunty was set to Karmic's
uuid. When I updated Karmic today, the manually corrected entry was
overwritten with the wrong uuid again.

In Debian Lenny, freeze exception was also granted for gnash.
Gnash 0.8.5 brings back working youtube support, for example.

The freeze exception was granted for 0.8.4, which came out long after

Yeah, there are 36k potential linux users affected in this university.

As the vpn-connection is not too stable in combination with the wireless
offered, this is kind of annoying for beginners who have to use the
console. Right now, I am also sitting next to a friend explaining this
to her...
