** Description changed:
I have tried 9.10 Alpha 3 on a pc with an Intel Integrated Graphics
Controller 82865G. The max resolution I can get i 800x600.
Using Ubuntu 9.04 on the same machine I get a resolution of 1152x864.
15/8 2009. Today I have tried 9.10 Alpha 4. Same problem..
4/9
Okay, the problem can be solved by reverting to an older version of the
Intel driver. (The Intrepid version)
I followed the guide in this link :
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/IntelPerformance
This gave me a decent screen resolution of 1152x864.

Tested 9.10 beta. Sadly I ended up with the same problem...
Just for fun I installed 8.04 on my pc just to see what that would do
And would you believe it: That gave me an even higher resolution than the one I
get running 9.04.
This has made me think...The newer version of Ubuntu I install on my
the patches on the 30th fixed my problems. monitor detected fine as AOC

including compiz running fine and no other performance problems while at

But running Ubuntu 9.04 my monitor is also detected as Unknown . Here I get a

What you wrote in comment #6 is not Xorg.0.log. /var/log/Xorg.0.log is a
log file, and we would like it attached to this bug report. The easiest
way to attach it and also some other useful information is to run the
command `apport-collect 408588`.

Hi nymark1,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.
