I think you misread the schedule, then. Beta *freeze* was on 24 September, but the beta release is scheduled for 1 October. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/ is always just daily builds, and sometimes those happen to be identical to a milestone release but you won't be able to tell
