My wife regularly uses eclipse (on amd64) and has used the proposed
packages for several days without any visible change/regression. (She
does not use JNI, though)

looking at the build logs for amd64, the files are built with -DJNI64;
checked that eclipse starts and works on amd64 and i386.

What's the visible impact of this? My wife uses eclipse on amd64 karmic
final (only for very basic Java stuff, though), and there isn't any
obvious breakage. I can help testing the update once I know what to
watch out for.

everything which works with JNI bindings should be affected. plus it
builds now on ia64.
