[Bug 446040] [NEW] vdpau video output breaks fullscreen playback at least on some GPUs
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mplayer With default settings, on default Karmic installation, with compiz enabled mplayer can freeze whole system, crash itself or compiz when user toggles movie to full screen. Some output from mplayer: [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_output_surface_create: The system does not have enough resources to complete the requested operation at this time. [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_video_mixer_render: An invalid handle value was provided. [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_presentation_queue_display: An invalid handle value was provided. it just loops itself. No difference between HD and normal content. When you add vc=ffmpeg12vdpau,ffh264vdpau,ffwmv3vdpau,ffvc1vdpau, to ~/.mplayer/config playback works but not at full speed, also new errors are displayed in terminal: [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_presentation_queue_block_until_surface_idle: A catch-all error, used when no other error code applies. [vdpau] Error when calling vdp_presentation_queue_block_until_surface_idle: An invalid handle value was provided. Everything works fine once compiz is disabled. [Bug 379052] Re: [regression] Broadcom 4312 Not working in 9.10 (Kernel 2.6.30 restricted modules ?)
Had the same problem on my Lenovo 300 C200. Curiously I can add the Broadcom BCM 4311 wifi driver from the live CD (System/Administration/Hardware Drivers) but when I installed the beta, the option to add this driver doesnt exist. i.e. System/Administration/Hardware Drivers doesnt show any propriety drivers to add. As a workaround I rebooted from the live CD again, activated the driver and THEN installed again by clicking the install icon on the desktop. I didn't choose to install from the menu. After this the driver shows up but I can't get it to activate. I followed the solution above and reinstalled bcmwl-kernel-source from the synaptic package manager after choosing the install CD as a repository source and now the driver can be activated. [Bug 446080] [NEW] FFe for updating -intel to 2.9.0
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel [Request] Update of xserver-xorg-video-intel to version 2.9.0. [Rationale] 2.9.0 is almost entirely a bugfix-only release. It contains one new feature, which is the addition of support for a new chipset. No existing functionality is removed. There are no changes in ABI/API. There are no changes in dependency versions. At UDS we knew the schedule for 2.9.0 placed it at around beta, and so set our requirements to 2.8.x, with a maybe for 2.9.0 if it was entirely bug-fix and was especially stable. In our evaluation, it does meet the criteria we required of it. It is proving to be quite stable, and aside from the one chipset feature (which we need in order to support customers) is entirely bug fixes. In fact it includes fixes for a number of bugs we have forwarded to them over the past few months, including solving some longstanding i8xx regressions that have plagued us for several releases. [Testing] In addition to going through Intel's QA testing procedures, we have carried git snapshots of the 2.9.0 driver and the release candidates leading up to it in our xorg-edgers repository. A number of people run this repository routinely, and report bugs to launchpad so we have had good visibility into the quality of this particular release. Additionally, the specific package version we propose to incorporate is derived from Debian's xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.9.0-1), which is being tested in unstable presently. [Contingency] If this FFe is accepted, we will also place the current 2.8.x driver into the x-retro PPA at the same time, versioned in a way that enables reversion to the older driver. If by chance there are any serious regressions found in the 2.9.0 driver, we will be able to revert back to the prior 2.8.x driver with minimal effort. If this FFe is not accepted, we can cherrypick individual patches from the release (indeed, we've already been doing this), although we probably will not have time to backport all the fixes we would like to see in karmic. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: Confirmed ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #22904 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22904 ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #22947 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22947 ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #20963 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20963 ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #22893 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22893 ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #20516 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20516 ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #23184 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23184 -- FFe for updating -intel to 2.9.0 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446080 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 446123] [NEW] evtouch calibrrtation fails with multiple monitors
Public bug reported: i observe that touchscreen calibration produces a reasonable (but still wrong minY) value config file, but when this file is used then a small area of the touchscreen is mapped to the second screen. another small area is mapped to the touchscreen itself. it is obviously a serious miscalculation occuring when two monitors (not mirrored) are used . i guess that the total envelop of the two screens is mapped to the touchscreen area - and then only the two small areas are actually controlling the cursor in a visible window. when i had a single monitor configuration, it worked. expected behavious: the touchscreen controls the cursor on the touchscreen only - to go to the other screen a mouse is required. principle for touchscreens: the cursor is under the touch... thank you for fixing andrew ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 CheckboxSubmission: 71519a5e155620fc8a489e4b79619f6a CheckboxSystem: 2abf16d4e86c450ae46e3232dd0d1917 Date: Thu Oct 8 10:25:53 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 MachineType: FUJITSU LifeBook P1630 Package: xserver-xorg-input-evtouch 0.8.8-0ubuntu3 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-12-generic root=UUID=10394d0e-9429-41f4-ad98-667d6f72fcd9 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-12.39-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu5 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu7 libdrm2 2.4.13-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.8.1-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090825.fc74e119-0ubuntu2 SourcePackage: xf86-input-evtouch Uname: Linux 2.6.31-12-generic i686 XorgConf: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:2468): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (nautilus:2565): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:2576): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (gnome-panel:2564): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -11 and height 24 (gnome-panel:2564): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate(): attempt to allocate widget with width -11 and height 24 dmi.bios.date: 11/14/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: FUJITSU // Phoenix Technologies Ltd. dmi.bios.version: Version 1.07 dmi.board.name: FJNB1F8 dmi.board.vendor: FUJITSU dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: A322H10305301010 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnFUJITSU//PhoenixTechnologiesLtd.:bvrVersion1.07:bd11/14/2008:svnFUJITSU:pnLifeBookP1630:pvr:rvnFUJITSU:rnFJNB1F8:rvr:cvnA322H10305301010:ct10:cvr: dmi.product.name: LifeBook P1630 dmi.sys.vendor: FUJITSU fglrx: Not loaded system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: i686kernel: 2.6.31-12-generic ** Affects: xf86-input-evtouch (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- evtouch calibrrtation fails with multiple monitors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446123 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 445873] Re: Problems in MythBackend.php for mythweb
I tracked down the problem. When I tried to connect with a seperate frontend, it was dying complaining that the server timezone was different - BST instead of Europe/London. So I checked, and /etc/localtime was different on the 2 machines. The server has been ubuntu since about version 6.04, whereas the client is a fresh install. So I'm assuming that at some point in the past, /etc/localtime was set up to use BST. I changed it to a symlink to /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/London, that fixed the frontend connection problem. I then undid the change I'd made to MythBackend.php, and that now works with the new timezone value too. Whether this just moves the bug or clears it I don't know. -- Problems in MythBackend.php for mythweb https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445873 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs

[Bug 445592] Re: Transmission Ext4 / data loss?
Would another solution be to use Persistent pre-allocation? From wikipedia The ext4 filesystem allows for pre-allocation of on-disk space for a file. The current methodology for this on most file systems is to write the file full of 0s to reserve the space when the file is created. This method would no longer be required for ext4; instead, a new fallocate() system call was added to the Linux kernel for use by filesystems, including ext4 and XFS, that have this capability. The space allocated for files such as these would be guaranteed and would likely be contiguous. This has applications for media streaming and databases. As my other understanding from the error message and the above, is that it lost data because they were stored in different places. Then ext4 filecheck cleared them all, because they weren't properly recorded in ext4s records. If all space is alloted ahead of time all data actually written to disk will always be recoverable by transmission. -- Transmission Ext4 / data loss? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/445592 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs -- universe-bugs mailing list universe-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/universe-bugs
