[Bug 432931] Re: tools toolbar not completely displayed

2009-11-10 Thread ororo
I've made another experiment.
I deleted both ~/.kde/share/config/kilerc and ~/.kde/share/apps/kile/kileui.rc
This makes kile fresh, every setting is restored as default
Then, I changed something inside the tools toolbar, and also inside the
main toolbar.

Result:
(i) there is no difference among the 2 toolbars
(ii) kile remembers /almost/ every change I do to the toolbars
(iii) the only buttons that are not displayed are the tools buttons (latex,
pdflatex, viewpdf, so on)

A workaround (that I don't like) is to give up to the buttons Latex,
pdflatex, ... and use the button with popup menu

[Bug 162352] Re: Open in terminal should have a keyboard shortcut

2009-11-10 Thread Alfredo Pironti
Just to be more precise, you don't need to click and hold left button
over the menu. The steps you need to do are (from
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=577139):

1. set /desktop/gnome/interface/can_change_accels true (gconf editor); or go to
System - Preferences - Appearance, switch to the Interface tab and ensure
Editable menu shortcut keys is checked
2. hover the mouse on menu entry (so it highlights)
3. press desired keyboard shortcut combination

To delete a previous combination, just press the delete key.

Hope this helps. I believe this bug can be closed now.

[Bug 479852] [NEW] gwibber-daemon Segmentation fault

2009-11-10 Thread Zeroth Eksaz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwibber

The first log was from running gwibber-daemon -d gwibber_debug.txt.
There was more information printed in the Terminal that for some reason
didn't make it into the debug file. So I copied and paste it into a
separate file that I'll upload after this initial post. I can only
upload one file right now.

I'm running Gwibber 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit. Not much else to say
except the gwibber-daemon crashes after running for some time. The
gwibber settings are optimized for use with indicator-applet 0.1 So
when I click X on gwibber to close the main window, the gwibber-daemon
remains running in the indicator-applet. Which I'm fine with. I don't
leave the main Gwibber window open long enough to see if it to would
crash.

[Bug 433051] Re: cryptsetup fails to open LUKS partition

2009-11-10 Thread Gerald Quimpo
I can confirm.

I did the dist-upgrade via the update-manager.

The first time the boot process asks for my LUKS passphrase the drive
light is still going. If I type in the passphrase immediately it will
always fail. This is with both the USB wireless keyboard as well as
with the laptop's built-in keyboard.

If I wait for the drive light to stop lighting up, usually it will still
fail.

Usually, if I wait many minutes (5-10, not measured rigorously since I
only boot up once a day and it's not such a big deal) LUKS will finally
succeed. If I forget to wait many minutes, then it'll fail a third time
and I need to reboot and try again.

[Bug 182927] Re: Update FreeMind to 0.9.0 RC6

2009-11-10 Thread Eric L.
Hello,

FreeMind 0.9.0_RC6 has been (properly) packaged and can be pulled from:

deb http://eric.lavar.de/comp/linux/debian/ experimental

(see the Freemind wiki [1] for more details)

Let me know how it works, the package has only been tested on
Debian/sid, I'm interested in your experience with Ubuntu and if you
find stuff that makes the package not fit for Ubuntu.

Cheers, Eric

PS: I hope to get this version of FreeMind officially into Debian. Cross
fingers!

[Bug 472920] Re: cairo dock has unknown icon loading with desktop loading

2009-11-10 Thread Fabounet
if you could record the debug output, we could easily find which application
and why it loads into the dock I think.
by changing the start up command to cairo-dock -o -l debug ~/debug.txt, I
think it's possible to record it.
Thanks for your help.

[Bug 479868] [NEW] VLC sound light stuttering every few seconds (pulseaudio, alsa, oss) (video or music file)

2009-11-10 Thread mahen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vlc

Since Ubuntu 9.10 (AMD64) (didn't happen in Jaunty), VLC (even the
updated version that chooses Pulseaudio by default) produces some light
sound stuttering every few seconds when playing a video or even just a
music file.

It sounds a bit like what you hear when you have a corrupt file (but
they aren't). It happens about every 5 seconds (and you can also hear in
the first second of the file). Here it happens with ANY file (.avi, .mp3
.ogg...). It doesn't happen with any other audio player. I tried all
possible modes (alsa, oss, pulseaudio) : they all lead to the same
result.

I also tried the VLC PPA with a slightly newer (1.0.3) version : same
result.

Sound is perfect in all other apps (except audacious2 that needs the alsa
plugin to play properly, or the famous wine bug).
My audio device is the following :
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio
Controller

vlc:
  Installé : 1.0.2-1ubuntu2
  Candidat : 1.0.2-1ubuntu2
 Table de version :
 *** 1.0.2-1ubuntu2 0
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/universe Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I don't report it upstream for the time being (tell me if it's
necessary) because it seems distro related as it didn't happen in
Jaunty.

[Bug 461442] Re: Seeing swap: waiting for /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 for several seconds while booting

2009-11-10 Thread Brian Burch
Workaround (tongue in cheek): if your system hangs and the disk activity
light stays on for 10 minutes or more - press the power button and hold
it down for 5 seconds!!!

My symptoms look more like a race condition caused by an implicit
assumption about how long it takes to format the swap partition, rather
than waiting for the task to complete... Should I open a new bug?

[Bug 472428] Re: application starst invisible

2009-11-10 Thread Nico den Boer
OK, nice just found out that the behavior is changed again.
I have the old behavior of the original bug report back. But, one thing has
improved.

If I start Twinkle immediately after starting KDE, it is invisible (unchanged
behavior)
If I start Twinkle approx. 5 minutes later, the icon is in the system tray and
the program is fully functional.

I do apologize for this mess. Changing behavior of a distribution gives
me the creeps. Currently I am considering to drop Kubuntu, it seems the
distribution is changing itself without my control over it

[Bug 479900] [NEW] Nut upgrade overwrites /etc/nut/nut.conf

2009-11-10 Thread Juha Aatrokoski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nut

After upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic, I noticed that UPS monitoring
with nut stopped working. It took me a few moments to figure it out, but
then I noticed that /etc/nut/nut.conf had a new timestamp and in it the
variable MODE was (once again) set to empty instead of netserver which
it was on Jaunty. Changing this back fixed the UPS monitoring, but the
package upgrade should not overwrite the configuration file.

[Bug 420933] Re: Current grub-pc takes several minutes to show menu

2009-11-10 Thread kokx
Besides that GRUB is also loading slow for me, it also won't load the
menu.

I have about the same disk configuration like everyone else: first disk
is a Windows installation, and on the second disk i got my Ubuntu
installation.

I am going back to grub-legacy, and i hope that this bug will be fixed
soon.

[Bug 357462] Re: arpwatch uses 100% cpu when net disconnects on laptop

2009-11-10 Thread prower2...@hotmail.com
I can confirm that this bug exists in Karmic's version of arpwatch as
well. Steps to reproduce:

1) start arpwatch running (or install it, it's started automatically if you do)
2) disable networking to your PC via the NetworkManager applet and re-enable it
3) check top, arpwatch is now using up 100% CPU in the background and continues
to do so until restarted

[Bug 479908] [NEW] No crank for karmic yet?

2009-11-10 Thread Matt Purvis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: crank

Hi,

Will crank be released for karmic? I tried building it myself from
lp:ubuntu/karmic/crank and had the following problem:

$ dpkg-checkbuilddeps
dpkg-checkbuilddeps: Unmet build dependencies: debhelper (= 5) libgtk1.2-dev
libglib1.2-dev

$ sudo apt-get install debhelper libgtk1.2-dev libglib1.2-dev
...
E: Package libgtk1.2-dev has no installation candidate

Related to #428529 I assume. Are there any plans to port crank to GTK+?

Thanks!

I confirm this bug, which affects me after a clean install of Karmic

Just after the install, everything was working fine, the problem
appeared when I decided to change the timeout value in

I temporary modified /etc/grub.d/00_header to temporary solve the
problem, but the bug is stil active.

Thanks for reading !

[Bug 462419] Re: evince apparmor profile prevents movies from opening

2009-11-10 Thread nZain
Unfortunatelly, this did not solve the problem. Comparing my
/etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/evince with yours showed that you added the
following two lines (in the supported archivers paragraph)

  /usr/bin/vlc ixr,
  /usr/bin/totem ixr,

I also added the lines to my evince file and rebooted. However, this
didn't resolve the problem. In /var/log/kern.log I found another entry
that could be related to this problem. After clicking on the movie link
in my pdf file, the following lines appear in /var/log/kern.log

Nov 10 11:37:05 dell-xps kernel: [ 468.494963] type=1503
audit(1257849425.550:24): operation=open pid=2009 parent=1981
profile=/usr/bin/evince requested_mask=::r denied_mask=::r fsuid=1000
ouid=0 name=/etc/gnome/defaults.list
Nov 10 11:37:05 dell-xps kernel: [ 468.499915] type=1503
audit(1257849425.554:25): operation=exec pid=2013 parent=1
profile=/usr/bin/evince requested_mask=::x denied_mask=::x fsuid=1000
ouid=0 name=/usr/bin/totem

I think, evince first tries to figure out which is the default video
player by accessing /etc/gnome/defaults.list (mask=::r means ready
only, I guess?) - it fails, but evince then uses totem anyways, which is
indeed the default on my almost fresh install of karmic. However, that
fails too. I'm not sure about those masks - but I'm trying to enable
read access to /etc/gnome/defaults.list and report back in a few
minutes.

[Bug 364475] Re: MPD Prevents Other Applications from Using Audio while not stopped

2009-11-10 Thread blahde
I am experincing the same Problem on karmic now.

When I am playing any sort of sound in any other application the mpd log comes
up with the message:
output: Failed to open My ALSA Device [alsa]: Failed to open ALSA device
hw:0,0: Device or resource busy when i am hitting the Play button in a local
or remote Client.

Than if I exit all programs accessing ALSA, after a few seconds MPD is
willing to play music. But than (as described in the title) all the
other applications are muted.

This was not the case on jaunty. I did not use pulse on Jaunty, in order
to get my external soundcard working I had only ALSA installed and I am
pretty sure that I heard pidgin notifications while listening to music
in MPD. Now I can't test it anymore, cause i have replaced jaunty with
karmic.

The only changes i made in the mpd.conf was that I set the mixer_type to
softare, but changing it back to hardware does not solve the issue.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

[Bug 479963] [NEW] proftpd mod_ratio not working correctly

2009-11-10 Thread trithdurol
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: proftpd-mod-mysql

Hello,

I think I found a bug in mod_ratio of proftpd.

When a user logs onto the system, his actions (number of files/mb for
upload/download) are updated correctly in the specified ratio files. But
when the user logs out and connects again, the mbs are set to zero and
the credits are calculated only from the UserRatio-value in config.
Strange to me is the fact that the filenumber count get's read correctly
from the ratiofile. For example:

Content of Ratiofiles:

r...@server:/var/ftp/ratio# more ratios
test|7|102404|1|51218
r...@server:/var/ftp/ratio# more tmpratios
test|7|102404|1|51218

During FTP Logon:

[R] 331 Password required for test
[R] PASS (hidden)
[R] 230-User test logged in
[R] 230 Down: 1 Files (0mb) Up: 7 Files (0mb) 1:5B CR: 2300

2300MB Credit is only what I have granted a new user as initial welcome
gift. ProFTPD simply does not take the uploaded 102404 kb into account.
With the specied 1:5 ratio, the user should now have 2750 mb credits.
(initial 2300 mb + 5x 100 mb uploaded so far - 1x 50mb downloaded so
far)

Here is an extract of the important blocks of the config:

r...@server:/var/ftp/ratio# more /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf
[...]
IfModule mod_ratio.c
Ratios on
SaveRatios on
RatioFile /ratio/ratios
RatioTempFile /ratio/tmpratios
LeechRatioMsg Access: Unlimited
ByteRatioErrMsg You are out of credits! Upload more stuff!
UserRatio ftpadm 0 0 0 0
UserRatio * 0 0 5 2355200
/IfModule
[...]
Directory /var/ftp/ratio
Limit ALL
DenyAll
/Limit
HideNoAccess on
/Directory

Finally here are the details about which release which package:

r...@server:~/proftpd-1.3.2b/contrib# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10
r...@server:~/proftpd-1.3.2b/contrib# apt-cache policy proftpd-mod-mysql

[Bug 459485] Re: Some sata drives are now /dev/mapper/nvidia_xxxxxx

2009-11-10 Thread Martin Pitt
NaSH, any chance you could reinstall dmsetup or dmraid (one at a time)
and see which of the two caused this breakage? (I suppose it was dmraid,
but let's check). After you identified the package, can you please do

sudo udevadm test `udevadm info --query=path
--name=/dev/mapper/nvidia_xx`

(with the actual name instead of x, of course)

Please copypaste the entire output.

Thanks!

[Bug 479351] Re: Tramsmission broke and lost all my torrents (data)

2009-11-10 Thread Carl Roberson
No, he change local data on the disk.
To solving problem, I needed:

$ mv /home/robersonfox/vídeos/dvd/bigbuckbunny
/home/robersonfox/vídeos/

the old path was: /home/robersonfox/vídeos/dvd/
and he change to: /home/robersonfox/vídeos/

thus, If I try to run Verify Local Data, nothing happens.
The default localization to save torrents is: /home/robersonfox/vídeos/
