My controls wouldn't show up in full screen either (Karmic with VLC
1.0.3 or any other version). It has nothing to do with drivers, compiz
(I use it) or anything like that in my case I think, as I just deleted
my config files (vlc-qt-interface and vlcrc) and now my controls appear.

I can confirm this problem for the official Karmic release that shipps
with version 1.97~beta4-1ubuntu3.
Before the grub menu appears the harddisks are frequently accessed for
about 30secs. After I selected a system to boot, it's the same. Harddisc
access for 30secs.
My Harddisk constellation:
OK, the problem is gone for me but unfortunately I can't exactly tell
why. Thats what I did.
(see my harddisk/partition configuration in my prevoius post)
I reinstalled grup on /dev/sdb with `sudo dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc` like Felix
suggested.

I agree with Oded Arbel also. Unfortunately the obscure error in
eclipse gives no clue at all to how to resolve the problem. I hadn't
thought of installing eclipse-pde - I didn't want to develop plugins

A backport isn't going to help much. The code currently in FFmpeg SVN is
low quality buggy in regard to multichannel. The code in my tree is slow
but high quality for mono but still sub-par for stereo and multichannel
is still broken.

I received a solution from Canonical (Ubuntu) support.
The solution is to remove the package libgraphite3 using the Synaptic package
manager.
Then, restarting Firefox.
The problem was corrected and the screen now looks normal.

friendly and more productive. And there is no need of telling a user
that he needs not pay a price.
I filed a new report, so never mind.
Robert did the right thing, the bug IS invalid for GNOME Do. It's not our
job to manage all bugs for Ubuntu, we are Do maintainers.

The debian guys have noticed this too. I am not in a position to look at

On my desktop (wired ethernet only), changing the privoxy upstart script
to depend on $named seems to work, but it doesn't work on my notebook

I am having this issue with up-to-date post-release fresh install of
karmic i386 32bit with intel 945gm. It is very annoying to have to
restart simply to use dual head. It is very predictable and consistent.
This worked just fine in Jaunty.

1400 laptop. As time goes on, desktop performance degrades terribly. I

mediaplayer is not expected to play this video. If this is the case, it
should not be prompted for installation when this video is accessed in
the web browser.
