Typical - it might actually be that fixing 445873 fixes this too. I
hadn't realised that until after filing, sorry.

I tracked down the problem. When I tried to connect with a seperate
frontend, it was dying complaining that the server timezone was
different - BST instead of Europe/London. So I checked, and
/etc/localtime was different on the 2 machines. The server has been
ubuntu since about version 6.04,
