Hi Mattias,
I stopped using the canonical version of eclipse, I install it off the eclipse
site. The bug has stopped occurring so
I'm assuming it was something else on my system that was causing it, and
updates have fixed it.
I this bug can be closed.

according to the crash report it's not eclipse which is crashing.
please recheck with eclipse-3.5 from karmic and attach your example to
the report?

I am experiencing the same problem. In Ganymede, I open the SVN commit
window, and the system crashed.
The deskop applets seem to be working, when I unplug the LAN cable, the
pop-up appears and dissappears. My mouse pointer is able to move, but
the system does not accept any keyboard input.
