I'd apply the first & second rules of networking which are
1 check the cables
2 check them again
I have seen old or damaged cables that seriously impact network
performance
Then I would look at the network hardware
Describe your network further and perhaps it will throw

no, I am using the network test from the player, which reveals that
there is a bandwidth issue on my LAN.
I am trying to understand why is it so, being a home LAN, though a bit
more extended that a typical one.
