We don't load zeroconf/avahi by default on piCorePlayer following the Tiny Core/piCore philosophy. I can't remember the exact figures, but zeroconf/avahi needs a significant number of dependencies which would have increased the size of piCorePlayer significantly.

I suspect you need a mDNS/zeroconf service running in the network and then pCP uses avahi to publish to it ... but I have not researched how it all works. I suspect it is my router running OpenWRT that is doing it for me. It works for me so have not had to delve more deeply. Paul Webster
