Thanks for putting this together. This could prove quite handy to have

I have the 64 bit version up and running on Mint 13. Have been playing
FLAC files synced to my Touch without any issues thus far.

FYI, if you aren't familiar with it HTOP is a nice alternative to top
with some additional features. One nice feature is the ability to show
processes in tree format
FWIW, I recently upgraded from 10.04LTS to 12.04LTS and in doing so my
7.6 version of the server no longer worked. It seemed to be an issue
with the version of Perl which is included in 12.04 vs. 10.04. I
probably could have dug in a bit more and tried to get the needed Perl
libraries but
In looking at the music folder on my server, it doesn't appear that I
have anything special to allow squeezeboxserver access to my files
besides glabal read access to Others (i.e. I am the owner and group on
the folders and files). It looks like you have read access for the
Music folder enabled
Well, one way to see if it is related to rights on the folder would be
to open a terminal and type:
cd /media/mediadisk
then type ls -l
This should show you the rights on the Music folder. If you want to
paste that into this thread it would probably be useful for
troubleshooting.

That's odd, since I had the opposite problem. When I upgraded from
10.04LTS to 12.04.1LTS the I ran into issues with Perl and the version
of LMS I was running (7.6.2 I believe)which prevented LMS from running
at all. I upgraded to the latest version of LMS (7.7.2) and it is now
running fine for

still available through the repos. I am using Ubuntu Lucid (10.04).
Thanks!

If you run the command top, you should be able to see if the service is
running. Incidentally, if you find you like the top screen you can
install htop which is a bit nicer to look at.
Have you tried connecting to the server through a web browser?

If you are getting a response on port 9000, it would seem its connecting
at some level to your local installation. Perhaps you need to input
your MySqueezebox credentials to properly integrate the MySqueezebox
components with your local installation?

Great to hear. Hope it's smooth sailing from here on.
Glad you're getting up to speed on Ubuntu. It's been a great
experience for me over the past 5 years or so since I started with it.

Not sure if you updated your repo sources with the Logitech sources or
not, but that usually does the trick. Here's some info from the Wiki:

For permissions issues, you'd need to change the access using the chmod
command. There's probably a way to do this through the Gnome
environment but I am not familiar with that.

OK, thanks. I'll boot into Ubuntu tonight and do some more tinkering

Ubuntu installation.
I've tried using various combinations of the folder name in the
Slimserver music folder input, but continue to get an error. I've
tried using \ as an escape character to get the spaces to work and also
tried quoting the path, but to no avail...
Any ideas?
