Instead of amixer - IIRC the ALSA control can be accessed using the -V
and -U option on the squeezelite command line

You can use the amixer command to set volume without having to interact.
Just type amixer by itself to find the device you want to change, then
change its volume using set [device] 100%
tc@piLMSServer:~$ amixer
Simple mixer control 'Headphone',0
Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch
When I access alsamixer, hit F6 and select my DAC, all I get is "This
sound device does not have any controls".
There is an option under squeezelite. Would this provide what I'm
looking for?
-V Use ALSA control for volume adjustment, otherwise
use software volume adjustment

using "up/down" or "+/-" on the keyboard. The number pad doesn't work
for me.

Would really appreciate some help here.
Just picked up a Gustard X26 Pro DAC and now have side by side units
connected via USB and neither give a VU Meter reading.
BTW, Gustard X26 Pro is an amazing DAC and highly recommend it!
Thank you. On to something now:-) Went into LMS and set player volume at
100%. The VU Meter worked. The spectrum analyzer was better, but still
gave an awkward representation.
So, now the question is by changing it in aplay via ssh, will this allow
me to still control volume via Squeeze Ctrl?
Maybe you need to increase the volume for the USB device, using aplay
via ssh?

Did some playing. Reimaged picorePlayer. Swapped inputs to the player
that is working vs one thats not. Again, the one thats working has
HifiBerry Digi2 Pro using coax and the one thats not is USB. Found its a
USB issue. When I swapped over and started using the USB connection on

All files are either flac regualar CDs, flac DVD-A, flac bluray Audio or
dsf from SACDs. I have to picorePlayers with touchscreens/Jivelite. One
of them works no problem. The other, everything works with the exception
of the VU Meter needle not moving.
What is the format of the music tracks?
AFAIK not all formats are supported by the VU Meter, e.g. DSD.
I can imagine that LMS might transcode the signal for the coax pCP but
uses the original signal for the USB pCP.
Music playing. All others screens working. Can see VU Meter, but not
moving.

Is it actually playing? Can you hear music, but needles not moving?

*Study -* Pi4/pCP 8.0.0/Topping E30 DAC/Ruark MR1 Mk2
Correct, can see meters, but not moving.

Running 3 instances of picorePlayer. All 8.0. LMS is 8.2. They are all
