There must be more information in the log than just "Logitech Media
Server died". Likely a perl or perl library issue. Make sure you
have installed "libio-socket-ssl-perl" at a minimum.

What version of ubuntu, and what perl version is it using (perl -v) ?

In addition to the same file properties, I also use the 0775 code, so it
may not be related to your issue. I'm not sure if it would make a
difference, but have you tried mapping the usb drive in Windows file
explorer?

[SlimDevices: Unix] Need Help getting LMS to run on Ubuntu on Pi 4

2021-04-28 Thread DLD-UK

I've been searching the internet for instructions on how to get LMS to
run on a Pi 4 using Ubuntu.

It is a long time since I've used the command line on Linux but the Pi
is a headless machine so I am back into that world. It's a big
learning/re-learning curve!!

It took a while to get Ubuntu to boot off of the SSD in an Argon One M2
case. I also had to rename all my music files to match Linux naming
conventions.

I chose Ubuntu as I also need to run a DLNA server as well. I understand
that there is a way of getting LMS to act as a DLNA server but I
couldn't work out whether or not that was a good idea. Besides, I need
to build a Ubuntu PVR so I had to learn it anyway.

I've tried to follow the instructions I've found on installing LMS on
the Pi/Ubuntu. It appears to install without errors but then nothing
works. Looking in the log file all I get is endless messages saying
"Logitech Media Server died". What I can't find out is why?

Clearly I have done something totally wrong but I have no idea what? I
also have no idea what steps to take to find out?

Looking for a DLNA server I decided to install MiniDLNA. I have no idea
whether that is a good choice(?) but it installed an ran without any
problems.

Any help much appreciated.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] UPnP/DLNA vs UPnP/DLNA in LMS?

2021-04-28 Thread fletch

Yes I restarted but it is very slow about even prompting you to do it. I
was walking away , getting a coffee refill and sometimes it was ready
for reboot, sometimes not.

It's the bridge version. I do have the other one and it works fine.

update: I just got home and the bridge was not shown in the plugin
section but it was showing as an available as an update just like
before. Before I left for work, it would hang the system if I tried to
update but now it updated very quickly and will now let me configure it.
So I think I am good now.

Guessing this was a network issue . I also have the airbridge and it had
an update this morning. It was also very slow but it did successfully.

Thanks...

You didn't mention if you restarted LMS (probably did because it
prompts) but if you didn't ... then do restart it and see if that
resolves it.
Also - there are two UPnP-related plugins. Which one are you referring
to?

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] New sd-card image backup feature in pCP 7.0.1

2021-04-28 Thread P Nelson

My low-tech solution to delete the extra SD Card backup files was to
shut down the Pi, remove the USB hard drive, and connect it to my
Windows 10 machine. No problem deleting the files.

My guess, which is probably not quite right, is the "Create File Mode"
code 0775 that is mentioned in the PiCore Documentation to set up a USB
drive and set-up Samba. I have seen other people use different codes.
I am not sure what the differences are.

thanks for the help.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] UPnP/DLNA vs UPnP/DLNA in LMS?

2021-04-28 Thread fletch

How do I manually uninstall this plugin?

Not sure what is going on but when I attempted to install it the system
hangs and after about 5 min I get control back.
Now it shows up as update available at top but doesn't show up in the
plugin area so there is no way to configure or remove it.

This may be some kind of network error (hopefully) and I will check
again when I get home from work.

Thanks.

It works. Thanks!
