I just did a fresh 6.1.0 install and gettin the same LCDd communication
error.
Although lcdproc runs fine and I can see the welcome/goodbye messages on
the screen.. still haven't resolved this

Thanks Greg.
I followed those instructions and while HiFiBerry Dac+ HD was in the
list, it wasn't loading successfully (looked to be old drivers).
I ended up flashing a clean install and all is working now..

I'm trying to use the Hifiberry DAC2 HD which is not in the dropdown
list.
It has a relatively new driver here
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/1c64f4bc22811d2d371b271daa3fb27895a8abdd/sound/soc/bcm/hifiberry_dacplushd.c,
which I don't think is compatible with the existing HifiBerry
Right.. that makes more sense... let me go over to that forum and come
back once its working in Raspbian

I've got raspbian setup and am perusing around
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/rpi-4.19.y/sound/soc/bcm
I'm thinking of using `rpi-proto` as a baseline and adapting to WM8741,
or add another option in `rpi-simple-soundcard` that references the
wm8741.
I've downloaded those source

I found the codec implemented for the WM8741 (which is the DAC chip I'm
using) in the RPI github repo.
Hi tbali,
Will slimmer be updated to support pCP 5 any time soon?
I upgraded from 4.0.1 and it broke... I will try and downgrade pCP in
the meanwhile (same issues as others w.r.t libftdi and other libs)

Thanks, I'll have to take a look at that sometime.
2 follow ups:
1) If I make changes to it, how difficult would it be to add the
modified driver to pCP ?
2) Are you familiar with the driver discussed in the thread I linked in
the previous post?

Someone in this' long i2s RPI thread'
I'm trying to integrate pCP with the AMB gamma2 DAC module (Wolfson
WM8741 chip).
I've wired GND, BCK, LCLK and DATA to the gamma2.
The gamma2 has an ASRC so MCLK signal is not required.
In the pCP settings, I've randomly chosen "RPi-DAC" and to my surprise
it's actually working.
I don't know

Thanks, I will look into a few options.
I have a few additional questions regarding development as I
I've been looking for something to display the currently played song and
Slimmer seems to fit the bill.. thanks for the excellent work here!
I completed the tutorial and it is working, but it seems that Slimmer
runs alot after pCP has already started and playing music.
