Hi,
I run my transporter from a wired ethernet. It stutters badly with
24/48 files. It plays 16/44.1 ok.
My SB3s both play the 24bit files OK.
I'm running kubuntu 10.04 and 7.5.2 todays build.
Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone give me any help?

I use kubuntu rather than ubuntu, but I use synaptic as an update
manager.
perhaps the application that ubuntu uses is an ubuntu update manager.
try starting synaptic rather than the ubuntu update manager.

I cheat I am afraid. I use webmin to make sure the folders get shared.
My data drive is in ntfs so that any windows machines can see the
folders, alter files etc. I have to install samba and ntfs-3g
(depending on distro)

mismatch issue. I have also lost settings and had issues with
scanning.
I have got round the scanning issues by pointing it to a different

With all due respect, why are you updating squeezeserver, but not your
operating system?
If you want the benefits of squeezeserver improvements then eventually
you will run out of compatibility/capability with 8.04.

not an expert, but I would suggest that you are trying to install
two versions which is confusing things. If you want 6.5.1 then stick a
couple of ## in front of the stable line.
I am assuming you know how to edit this file in ubuntu.

The mplayer.sh is included in the new squeezecenter download at
usr/share/squeezecenter/plugins/Alien/bin. I would guess if you put a
bin/mplayer file back in the sqcntr folder you will cause problems. You
don't need the bin folder at the squeezecenter level.

place where i expected it to appear and the gui starts as before.

You don't say whether you use a gui. If you do i suggest using the
automatic update. I use kubuntu which uses adept. Once the repositories
are set correctly the thing updates with a click or two.

should show the identification of your network interface. eth0 or eth1
are likely
you should also have a lo line showing the loopback

i the ethtool eth1 information still the same as it might be being reset
on shut down.

Hi,
Alien BBC has stopped working for me. The stream tries to run but
fails. The player has the correct displaybut the play time bar doesn't
progress.
this occurs with both live and library on alien and iplayer versions,
slimpicks works.

a suggestion as to which file system I should use for
the music storage drive. I have it as NTFS at present. I need the drive
optimised for linux/squeezecenter but accessible by the windows
machines.

i've just upgraded to 8.10 and it works with SQ7.3. At one point the
upgrade asked if i wanted to keep the customised apparmor settings; I
kept the customised setting.
