It wasn't in 8.0.0 but you added it back in so I guess I'm good to
upgrade. Thanks.

If it was in 8.0.0, then your fine wih 8.1.0.

If you had to build for 8.0.0, then build it before you upgrade.

Thanks so much for your help.

I have been able to use picoreplayer with internal wifi (with occasional
drop outs which are definitely my network rather than the software -
dongle will solve it).

great LMS add-ons and airplay works really well.

Thanks. Done that.

in iwconfig I can see:

So presumably I can switch off the internal wifi and the usb dongle will

firmware-rtlwifi.tcz has been updated on our repo.

Run.

pcp-update firmware-rtlwifi.tcz

Then reboot. Note that pCP will use wlan0, so whatever wifi is detected
as wlan0 will get used.

not able to ssh back into the pi to add the file to that location.

If I add the file and then reboot obviously it is no longer there.

Actually it looks like that card may be handled now with an in tree
driver, you may just need to get the firmware file.

Can you test something.

1) Disable the RPi internal wifi
2) Remove your USB wifi
3) Reboot
4) Download the firmware file
(https://anduin.linuxfromscratch.org/sources/linux-firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8192eu_nic.bin)
and put it in /lib/firmware/rtlwifi/
5) Insert your USB wifi
6) Check dmesg to see if the card was fully recognized and the firmware
was loaded.
