Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or an
equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Typically possesses nine or more years in information security conducting
Information Security risk analysis/ assessments and application reviews.
Should have at least three years experience in implementing security
projects in medium to large heterogeneous mainframe and distributed
computing environments.

 

Demonstrated experience with: operating systems such as UNIX, Windows, and
Macintosh; LAN/WAN networking protocols such as TCP/IP; and security
technologies such as firewalls IDS/IPS, PKI, and encryption. Demonstrated
knowledge of information security concepts and methodologies, as well a
practical understanding of security principles such as authentication,
authorization, access controls, and protection strategies. Demonstrated
experience working with information security related risks, as well as
regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements. 

 

Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following regulatory
compliance requirements: SOX, SB1386, HIPAA, and NERC. Demonstrated
analytical, problem-solving and project management abilities and a working
knowledge of supported platforms and client business, technology advances,
and security trends. 

 

Demonstrated ability to independently exercise initiative to accomplish
assigned responsibilities and anticipate/solve problems with minimal
supervision. Demonstrated experience working on projects that require
partnership with all company areas. Demonstrated knowledge of technical and
platform security technology, processes and strategies at the enterprise
level to ensure that all business and technical initiatives are implemented
to the appropriate level of protection. Must have excellent oral and written
communication skills, and be customer focused, to understand and
appropriately respond to clients' business needs, and facilitate the
presentation of recommendations. 

 

Must demonstrate the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with
clients, peers, vendors, and management to develop solutions and ensure
stakeholder buy-in. Demonstrated ability to serve as a mentor.  Demonstrated
ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions under
pressure. Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and accountability
for achieving results. Must be proficient with all Encase, Neutrino, FTK,
and other forensics tools.  Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.  Experience with mentoring and training junior
security analysts. Experience in establishing and following formalized
security review/risk assessment processes, procedures and frameworks.

 

Responsibility:

Conducting security reviews and risk assessments of applications and
infrastructure.  The ITS3 will serve as the primary security resource on
significant projects.  This participation will include gathering information
security requirements, lead individual threat modelling, and security
testing.

Leading small internal Security Programs and Reviews projects - Perform peer
reviews of threat modeling and security testing of other security engineers
and analysts.  Provide feedback and help mentor junior team members with
knowledge sharing.

Participating in information security program projects - Lead security
projects sponsored by information security including process improvements
and technology enhancements under the guidance of the M2 and ITS4/5s.

Act as a resource for securing SCE's computing environment.

Participate in compliance, regulatory and audit efforts.

 

Preferences:

 

CISSP Certification, CISM Certification, CISA Certification, IT Audit
experience, Big 4 consulting/ client service experience, Utility industry
