*Client is looking for a really strong DevOps Architect with experience
with architecting & standing up a Chef environment and building a solution
where Chef does all post build configuration for RHEL 6 & 7 Hosts.*

* Candidates need to be Chef Subject Matter Expert (SME) to:*

·         Architect and stand up a Chef environment, including a software
repository, versioning, and code promotion

·         Build a solution where Chef does all post build configuration for
RHEL 6 and 7 hosts, in line with our standards

·         Document the environment

·         Provide guidance and training to Linux and Windows admins

·         Integrate the Chef environment with an orchestrator using Chef
APIs

·         Build application specific recipes and cookbooks

·         Extend solution to support cloud based IaaS deployments, like AWS
or Azure

defining/documenting/implementing/operationalization of Linux server
standards

*Job Summary: *The Systems Engineer will primarily be responsible in
assisting the transformation team in automating the provisioning of Linux
systems. As a part of the cloud strategy we will be analyzing and modifying
the current server build process, building out a private cloud and
leveraging public cloud services. A Systems Engineer will be instrumental
in preparing us to be able to deploy Linux servers to these new platforms.

*Job Duties:*

·         Defining/documenting/implementing/operationalization of Linux
server standards (establishes technology standards for development and
maintenance of new and existing systems, makes recommendations for
improvement).

·         Collaborates with internal customers to ensure user requirements
are complete and concise, confirming that changes and enhancements meet
technical specifications and user requirements.

·         May interact with the business to elicit, analyze and document
detailed business requirements.

·         Performs business process analysis to define configuration
requirements.

·         Transforms business requirements into technical documentation
including detailed design specifications to describe program development,
logic coding and corrections.

·         Performs a variety of tasks to review, analyze and modify
business application systems including configuration, testing, debugging
and implementation.

·         Makes appropriate recommendations for continuing, modifying, or
abandoning proposed projects based on the results of feasibility studies
and/or cost/benefit analyses.

·         Contributes to end-user training as needed.

·         Provides support to existing applications and resolves business
and technical problems

·         Keeps informed of trends and new developments in technology to
better advise management of means to accomplish business and information
systems goals.

·         Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion,
as assigned.



*General Qualifications*:

·         Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent years’
experience.

·         *RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux/Kickstart/Satellite experience )*

·         *Defining/documenting/implementing/operationalization of Linux
server standards*

·         *Chef experience for configuration management and post build
configuration*
(Chef is both the name of a company and the name of a configuration
management tool written in Ruby).

·         Experience of Oracle RAC, VMware and Orchestrator (vRO, BMC AO,
HP OO) are all plus or “nice to have”

·         Excellent communication and customer service skills.

·         Able to bridge communication between technical areas and business
areas for a full and complete understanding of expectations.

·         Ability to multi-task efficiently on parallel efforts.

·         Ability to drive requirements and project work through to closure.

·         Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse
business environment.

·         Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in
a fast-paced, changing environment.

·         Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
