Job Roles: Solaris System Administrator Skills 1. Solaris System Administrator responsible for executing daily service delivery of planning, organizing, evaluating, troubleshooting, installing and tuning of multiple large Solaris systems in a centralized data center environment. 2. Responsible to support Customer specific Security policies and procedures including full User access support, support for internal and external audits and compliance testing. 3. Strong understanding and comprehension of ITIL fundamentals 4. Proficient with Zones and Container configuration, administration and maintenance 5. Sun Cluster administration and experience. 6. Experience with large scale EMC storage arrays utilizing a multi-tiered, multi-fabric, multi-path fibre channel environment of Cisco 9509 MDS switches. 7. Disaster recovery experience including data replication technologies 8. Operating system and third party application software Patching and customized scripting skills 9. Strong knowledge of Solaris OS fundamentals 10. Practical experience in Jumpstart Installation, Solaris Volume Manager (SVM), Veritas Volume Manager(VXVM), NFS, performance monitoring utilities and other core UNIX commands 11. Experience in SCSI, SSA, LTO and DLT tape drive and automated tape library technologies 12. Solid understanding of disk system concepts (RAID design, LUN creation, data replication) is needed 13. Experience writing scripts and procedures for day-to-day operations 14. Preferred working experience in middleware support like BEA Weblogic, IBM Websphere. Job Description 1. Installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of SUN Solaris based operating systems, related utilities and hardware 2. Responsible for troubleshooting Solaris based hardware and software problems 3. Monitors systems activities and fine tunes system parameters and configuration to optimize performance and ensure security of systems 4. Performs capacity analysis, monitors and controls usage of disk space 5. Develop (as required) customized scripts / procedures for routine administration tasks including but not limited to backup/restore, shutdown and start-up 6. Provides recommendations for improving the server environment, such as capacity thresholds, security gap, patch levels and hardware recalls 7. Coordinate with service provider for issues and incidents related to critical Server outages, SEV 1 issues and RCA 8. Coordinate maintenance and upgrade activities with OEM vendors 9. Testing and ensuring Servers and peripheral devices are ready for hot stand-by 10. Work with command centre and service desk team for issue resolution and problem management 11. Participate in the 24x7 on-call rotation. 12. Highly motivated team player with strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work alone and must possess a positive attitude 13. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 14. Ability to effectively work on and prioritize multiple concurrent projects. 15. Must have excellent team working skills balanced Ability to quickly assimilate technical and non-technical information quickly and accurately. 16.
