   1. *Prefer candidates with strong advanced Java
skills, rather than intermediate-level candidates with a diversified skill
   set.*

*Java funds., Hadoop, Hbase, Agile, Big Data Hive.*

I.e., if we remove Big Data as a 'required' skill, does that open the pool
to other advanced Java candidates?

   1. *Candidates do not need to have management or people leader
experience.* Leadership can take many forms -- if he or she is a strong
individual contributor, their technical skills will help them lead by
   example

real-time applications.

• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in Java application design, development,
and automated testing, preferably in an agile environment

• Core competencies in Big Data and distributed systems, including data
storage and management, searching, scheduling, logging, serialization, and
modeling technologies. (e.g., HDFS, HBase, Sqoop, Ozie, Flume, Avro,
Lucene, SOLR, ElasticSearch, Talend Open Studio for Big Data).

• Experience with machine learning and/or data mining, including PMML.

• Experience with web UI, caching, and graph/document database
technologies, including AJAX, Memcached, and MongoDB.

• Experience designing and implementing REST and SOAP web services,
including API design, implementation, testing, plus hands-on experience
with XML and JSON serialization.

• Experience and strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design
patterns, and object-oriented design.

• Experience with parallel programming, concurrent programming, and
multi-threading.

• Experience with database query optimization and indexing.

• Experience with Apache Storm and Apache Spark is a plus.

• Knowledge of functional programming is a plus.

 • Daily experience with source control, automated build systems, and bug
tracking systems is strongly preferred.

*Internal Notes:* Long term contract role. Looking for a local resource
that has Java development skills, Hadoop experience and has some project
management background.
Person will be part of our solution delivery group and will work with Big
Data Application delivery team

*MANAGER NOTES FROM PREVIOUS INTERVIEWS:*

*The candidate we interviewed last was not strong with Java expertise, and
was 3 years removed from hands-on Java experience. *

*Big Data skills trended architectural, rather than development.*

The candidate we interviewed last was not strong with Java expertise, and

opportunity for trade-offs, please let me know.
