*MicroStrategy Administrator (Linux/Unix)* *Location: Charlotte, NC* *Longterm* *Visa Copy is required for H1B's* *Job summary:* The Sr. MicroStrategy Administrator will be responsible for administering, supporting, governing and maintaining multiple MicroStrategy environments in Charter Business Intelligence group. The Sr. MicroStrategy Administrator must have a thorough understanding of MicroStrategy architecture and the entire MicroStrategy product suite, administration policies, techniques and methodologies. This is a multitasking role and the individual is expected to support multiple BI development and operations teams as well as a large and diverse MicroStrategy user community. *Essential Job Functions:* - Install, configure, manage and execute upgrades of MicroStrategy 10+ environment including major/minor/patch releases on Linux, Sun Solaris and Windows platforms. - Govern the MicroStrategy environment and continuously optimize the environment via governing settings, VLDB settings, and other mechanisms. Fine tune MicroStrategy project, I-server, and Web server configuration settings. - Perform user administration, including creation of users and groups, removing inactive users, and conducting license audits to ensure adherence to licensing requirements. - Develop automated mechanisms for deploying MicroStrategy projects and configuration changes across the various environments. - Proactively monitor and maintain the stability of the environment by leveraging MicroStrategy monitoring tools, Enterprise Manager Reports, and system monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and HP OpenView. - Collaborate with database and development teams optimize overall environment performance - Investigate and resolve reported MicroStrategy issues, working with end-users, management, and other developers to do so - Automating support and maintenance tasks (user management, backups, triggering, etc.) - Manage MicroStrategy-specific memory caches, including Intelligent Cubes and report caches; clear and repopulate caches as needed, and monitor their size and status - Manage MicroStrategy email subscriptions; halt and re-activate subscriptions as needed - Perform package review before migration to make sure it follows the established standards and best practices.Proactively detect any potential issues the package might cause. - Promote MicroStrategy development objects (such as metadata and reports) from Development environments to QA and Production environments, using the MicroStrategy Object Manager - Perform necessary backups of MicroStrategy objects like projects, reports, and metadata, as part of backup and object promotion strategies - Serve as a technical support contact for MicroStrategy and work with MicroStrategy Support to resolve platform-related issues which need MicroStrategy assistance *Required Qualifications:* - 5+ years of MicroStrategy administration, including installation, configuration, monitoring and upgrades in large-scale enterprise environments. - Proficient in MicroStrategy administration on *Linux and Solaris platforms* and writing shell scripts for automation needs. - Proficient in managing MicroStrategy I-server and web server clusters on physical hardware and virtual machines - 1+ years of experience in creating MicroStrategy java based SDK customizations and plug-ins. - Experience in designing and implementing disaster recovery strategy and mechanisms for MicroStrategy installations. - In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure such as servers and storage systems, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and disaster recovery tools. - Thorough knowledge of MicroStrategy architecture and all components of the MicroStrategy product suite, including MicroStrategy Architect, MicroStrategy Developer, Enterprise Manager, Cube Advisor, Integrity Manager, Object Manager, System Manager, SDK, Distribution Services, Transactional Services, Visual Insight, and MicroStrategy Mobile. - Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and techniques such as dimensional modeling, star schemas, SQL language and SQL tuning - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner with a broad range of technical and non-technical users and stakeholders - Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and tasks - Ability to prioritize, organize, make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure - Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with other team members *Preferred Qualifications:* - MicroStrategy 10 Certified Application Administrator, MicroStrategy 10 Certified Application Engineer or MCE / MCEP certifications are big plus - Teradata and/or Netezza database knowledge and experience - MicroStrategy Mobile Experience is a plus - Experience in cable or another telecommunications service provider is a plus Thanks & Regards, *Tom Martin | Recruitment Lead* *IDEXCEL Inc.,* 459 Herndon Parkway, Suite 11, Herndon, VA-20170. *Direct*: 703.230..2631 <http://tel:703.230..2631/> | *Fax*: 703.880.7584 <http://tel:703.880.7584/> *Email*: *tmar...@idexcel.com| <tmar...@idexcel.com|>* www.idexcel.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "US_IT.Groups" group.
