Job Title: Senior Systems Operations Engineer Location: El Dorado Hills, CA Local candidates who can do in person interview Overview: We are seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer for the operations, maintenance and support of Cross s emerging business applications and associated infrastructure. In an on-going basis, the Senior Systems Operations Engineer will provide operations in a level 2 support role including daily maintenance and monitoring to assure application availability, response and resolution to server, storage, and application incidents, engineering and deployment of server, storage, and application updates, maintenance of associated standards and operational procedural documentation. Responsibilities (add bullets if needed): Continually monitor and tune operating system, storage, and application environments to assure optimal performance, availability and utilization of resources Respond to monitoring alerts to quickly identify trouble source and implement resolution to avoid or reduce duration of an outage Provide support and trouble-shooting to resolve issues impacting operations Engineer and deploy releases, enhancements, and upgrades or new applications throughout non-production and production environments As needed for new infrastructure, install and configure operating systems, storage, middleware, and vendor application software to build new environments Maintain knowledge of system and application design/engineering principles and applications within team s portfolio Provide technical solutions to automate processes or functions to improve business operations Develop corresponding operations and support procedures for environment operations Develop and continually refine restore or recovery procedures for errors impacting environment operations Design and develop scripts to automate manual tasks related to operations and maintenance Report to managers and supervisors, advising performance as related to environment operations Escalate issues per policy to higher tier support resources and management as necessary Provide guidance and mentor junior staff on corresponding job functions Administer and enforce IT standards and processes On-call 24x7 responsibilities Qualifications (add bullets if needed): 4-5 years experience in IT-related systems implementation, operations and support role for business applications, servers, and storage solutions supporting multi-tiered client-server solutions. 5-7 years years experience highly preferred. 4-5 years experience supporting applications on the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 or higher or Red Hat Enterprise/AIX/Solaris platform. 5-7 years experience highly preferred. Experience in supporting applications which leverage COM+, DCOM, .NET 1.1-4.5 technology-based applications, as well as Java applications hosted on Windows Server and UNIX/Linux platforms. Experience in system/environment provisioning and deployment automation with technical skills in associated scripting and packaging technologies: Ant, PowerShell, Jython, InstallShield, SCCM/SCOM, or similar tools. Experience with SDLC processes and tools; source and software version control and build/packaging software. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, Java EE, LDAP, Active Directory, XML, Web Services, Windows operating system, Linux operating systems, authentication protocols, SSH, SFTP. Experience optimizing IT services through automation, standardization and continual improvement. Extensive knowledge of system administration on Windows and Linux operating systems. Strong ability to adapt to and learn new technologies, products and applications. Strong trouble-shooting and problem determination skills with heavy focus on Windows and Linux operating systems. Other: Strong analytical skills, organized and detail-oriented; self-directed. BA/BS or equivalent experience in IT. Additional Skills: IBM Websphere experience in large environment desired. IBM PureApp experience desired. Experience working with both virtual and physical services desired. Position has on-call, nights, weekends, and some holiday work requirements.
