Experience in the concepts and methodologies of Technical/Solutions
architecture (e.g. Zachman Framework, TOGAF, etc) and application
architecture is a Must



*JOB SUMMARY *

The Technical/Solutions Architect is responsible for defining and
documenting the overall application strategy in support of the
Technical/Solutions Architecture and application lifecycle and technology
planning processes.

•                    Another key component to this role is the ownership of
the Technical/Solutions application, information, and technology strategies
and alignment to business strategy, processes and organization. These
strategies define the guiding principles and goals of how VWGoA will
utilize information technology, as well as input into a comprehensive
project portfolio of projects to deliver the strategy.

•                    The Technical/Solutions Architect is also responsible
for the development and maintenance of Information Technology standards,
standards adherence and project architecture guidance. The Architect is
also responsible for developing and maintaining the application portion of
the IT documentation repository, EA planning repository and operational
configuration management repositories.

•                    The Technical/Solutions Architect is also responsible
for insuring that standards and processes are adhered to by development and
implementation projects.

*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES *

Define the strategic application technology direction for VWoA/VWC and
align to VWAG/region standards

•                    Communicate application technology strategy to
business, region, group and suppliers

•                    Set application architecture direction

•                    Maintain and enhance the SEP systems development
methodology

•                    Define application-related policies, standards,
patterns and guidelines

•                    Support definition of IT sourcing strategies

•                    Monitor technology trends with an emphasis on
application technology Analyzing IT industry and market trends to determine
their impact on the Technical/Solutions

•                    Consulting on application and infrastructure
development projects to fit them to the architecture, as well as
determining when it is necessary to modify the technical architecture to
accommodate project needs

•                    Mediate deviation of standards

•                    Support governance of technology compliance

•                    Designing the governance structure and activities
associated with ensuring application compliance with the
Technical/Solutions architecture

•                    Identifying the organizational resources, structures
and cultural change necessary to support the Technical/Solutions
architecture

•                    Supports the documentation processes for the complex
information technology environment within and provides these documents to
projects and operational areas

•                    Sets work priority based on business objectives

•                    Ensures information technology strategy is in
alignment with the VW Regional teams and VW AG teams

•                    Maintains and advances an application technology
strategy on behalf of VWoA

*Qualifications *

SPECIALIZED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR CERTIFICATIONS UNIQUE TO THIS JOB

Experience in the concepts and methodologies of Technical/Solutions
architecture (e.g. Zachman Framework, TOGAF, etc) and application
architecture

•                    Conceptual knowledge of business area processes and
functions (i.e. a general working knowledge of the VWGoA or Automotive
Sales Company business model)

•                    Knowledge of information technologies (Database,
Business Intelligence, Infrastructure, Networks, Web & Integration
software)

•                    Broad understanding of technologies and has experience
in implementation methodologies, software development life cycle process,
and project management

•                    Excellent planning and organization, project
management and time management skills

•                    Strong problem solving and negotiation abilities

•                    Ability to inform, educate and influence managers and
employees to support goals and initiatives

•                    Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills
are necessary to effectively convey goals and initiatives to staff and
management

•                    Knowledge of the vendor market and possess existing
relationships

*WORK FLEXIBILITY: TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS, WORK SCHEDULE, OVERTIME
REQUIREMENTS, ETC. *

•                    Ability to perform periodic travel to VWGoA sites in
Virginia and Canada.

•                    Also able to periodically travel internationally and
attend multiple industry events throughout a given year.
