Job Title: Senior System Administrator (AIX/ Linux UNIX )
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 2 Years Contract

Job Description:
This position includes responsibilities for providing AIX/LINUX UNIX server
system administration, including data backups and recovery.
Responsible for determining user and system demands, establishing
priorities, and planning and performing wok involved in providing reliable
and efficient delivery applications.
Evaluates system status, system utilization and implements changes to
improve efficiency, reliability, and disaster recovery.
Performs hardware and operating system level problem identification and
resolution to support Client requirements.
Installs software and user utilities for modifications and upgrades of
operating systems and workstation environments.
Maintains service accounts with the proper security, login IDs, and email,
and maintains NIS, NFS, DNS, and automount processes.
Develops, implements and maintains proper backup procedures and disaster
recovery plans.
Supports team members, management, and clients on questions and problems
with hardware and software.
Coordinates, installs, and maintains centralized network resources that
connect the company's servers to the LAN and WAN.
Functions as recognized expert on AIX/LINUX UNIX maters both inside and
outside the department.
Provides 24-hour on-call support, including evenings, weekends, and
holidays.

Required Skills:
Minimum of five (5) years AIX/LINUX UNIX server experience
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS, ABILITIES & PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS (KSLAPS):
Ability to support Tivoli Storage Manager
Ability to anticipate new situations, change demands and take action to
enhance the Company's performance.
Ability to understand and satisfy customer expectations when making
business decisions.
Ability to inspire and energize others to commit to achieving CenterPoint
Energy's corporate vision.
Overall knowledge of current computer technology and ways in which
technology is applied to meet business requirements.
Works closely with other IT team members to provide technical advice and
resolve problems.
Works closely with Support Desk team members to provide technical advice
and resolve problems.
Communicates well with technical a well as non-technical clients.

Hearing; Lifting; Pulling; Pushing; Reaching; Seeing; Sitting - Long
Periods; Squatting; Walking; Writing
Degree of required physical force:  < 60 lbs. of force
Frequency of required physical force: Occasional (moderate)
