*Position ::Software Engineer * *Location :: Babylon, NY * *Contract : 12+ month* Below are the details but the main components are *SQL, Linux, Azure or AWS, tuning, configuration, load balancing.* *Must have excellent communication skills* *Would prefer candidates on the East Coast that would not have to relocate too far… since this will be a long-term contract. * *JD:* Our client located in Babylon, NY is looking to add a Software Engineer that will require demonstrable experience in producing detailed technical systems designs and implementation planning for the deployment and operations of large-scale, distributed applications and solutions across a global infrastructure. This position establishes the technical deployment solutions for all applications and associated support systems, software and infrastructure within Global Platforms Organization (GPO) – Platform Technologies team. The global environment includes Windows and Linux operating systems; physical and virtual server technologies; hosting in datacenters and cloud service providers (Azure, AWS) and use of their various service offerings, supporting a range of desktop and mobile applications. The use of service-oriented technologies and solutions is at the center of world-wide customer-facing, product platform. This position will leverage his/her background as a Systems Engineer to set standards for systems designs, establish best practices and drive systems engineering capabilities into GPO projects and programs. The position will work closely with application architects, designers and operational staff to ensure all products and services are implemented for optimum operational efficiency and in accordance with Platform Technologies systems standards and practices. Develops systems related systems conventions/best practices (e.g. allocation of memory to JVM’s) and standards (e.g. use of SQL vs. other DB technologies) to enable consistency in delivered solutions and streamlining of operational maintenance. Analyzes performance, reliability and business continuity needs and develops systems designs that address these requirements/criteria in collaboration with the Operations team for implementation. Participates and represents the PT-SysOps team on Cross Team Design, PT Architecture, Global Atlas Design, Architecture Forum and other inter-team meetings, and disseminates pertinent information to the PT-SysOps team. Position will require working some evening, weekend and holiday hours. This may be required for troubleshooting pre-production or production issues, or to meet certain project/program objectives and milestones. At points in the delivery and support cycle, position may require 24x7 cell phone availability. May perform other duties as assigned by management. *Job Qualifications/Education:* Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent. Minimum 2-5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer producing systems design specifications for Linux and Windows based platforms. Minimum 1 year designing and implementing Cloud (Azure and/or AWS) based systems, including use of advanced Cloud services (e.g. load balancing, gateways, networking). Minimum 2 years writing scripts for automating builds and deployments (e.g. ANT). Minimum 2 years hands on experience with automation toolset. e.g. Puppet, Chef, CA, etc. Minimum 1 year experience with logging technologies (e.g. Splunk Fluent spoken and written English Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: Microsoft (MCITP, MCSE) and VMWare certifications desirable. Working knowledge of GIT or comparable revision/source code management systems.
