The label text of the menu buttons actually does go bold, but it seems to be an unfortunate feature of the system font on OSX (Yosemite onwards) that it either changes imperceptibly or not at all when bolded. I have noted it as something we should deal with.

I'm seeing what I think is a related issue in the Script Editor. Not sure what font was used in the SE tabs prior to 8 DP14 but it was noticeably bold on the active tab. In DP14, the bold is hardly noticeable so I'm guessing it's using the system font and this is the same issue as with the
