I have to correct this.
Sending files to iMessage app through the sharing feature is not possible for
all apps, even if they are from Apple. Tried here for example with the File.app
from Apple on the iPhone. iMessage is not offered as targed in the share sheet.

The custom url scheme settings in the standalone builder is for the ios app
itself, not for other apps on the iOS device.

I just did a short test with mergPopActivity. I am able to send/share the .caf
file located in the documents folder with Telegram, Signal and other apps
installed on my iPhone, but not with messages.

But i was able to copy the file to the clipboard using mergPopActivity and
then to paste it into Messages.

Seems Messages does not support the .caf file type.

I used this code for my test
mergPopActivity "Share with...","" ,"file:" documents folder
&"/output.caf"

Re: How to share a recorded sound on iOS?

2021-03-17 Thread William de Smet via use-livecode
Hi Matthias,

Yes I want something like the standard share sheet on iOS.
And for instance I want to share the .WAV file with Apple Messages.

Do I need to associate the .WAV file with other apps?
Then I have to use custom URL schemes, I think.
Is that what you mean?

Re: How to share a recorded sound on iOS?

Hi Matthias,

With sharing I mean like the iOS share sheet.
A bit like using the mergPop with mergPopActivity but then with .WAV files.

I got it working with 'mobileComposeMail (with an attachment)' but in this
way you need to have an actived mailacoount on your iOS device.
And mailaccounts are not present on the iOS devices that will be used.

Re: LC Bug: Copying an Image fails

2021-03-17 Thread Curry Kenworthy via use-livecode

Sean:

> char 1 of rawclipboarddata["CF_BITMAP"] crashes it

That's simply standing on principle, which I find admirable!
After all, give us a char and we'll likely take ... an image. :)

But on the tech side, not surprising; char 1 of (the data).

--

Paul:

> I would consider this a serious LC bug.

Indeed it is!
Nor is this limited to rawclipboarddata.
Nor is it limited even to MS Word

I can trigger the same crash with a copied image from OpenOffice.
All it takes is reading either of these:

fullClipboardData["windows metafile"]
fullClipboardData["windows enhanced metafile"]

I'll be filing a bug report (maybe two) this week.

--

Paul:

> Return an error code or even just empty or something

A very prophetic statement; that appears to be the case on Mac.
I copy a Word image, LC "paste" is not enabled.

Thus, likely image copy/paste trouble is not limited to Windows.
(As opposed to the separate hard crash bug.)

In which case it should be an even more "relevant" priority.
More news on that after I've tested with latest LC.

--

Finally, I've heard that the LC Team will be taking a look.
That's encouraging news; thanks LC Team!

Best wishes,

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the LiveCode team is able to address
some of these issues. Thank you for another save, made even more impressive by
the fact that you provided examples of existing tools to test and NO changes
required to the published frontend app!

I look forward to walking through the new steps tonight.

Re: Apple Push Notifications update

2021-03-17 Thread panagiotis merakos via use-livecode
Hello all,

You can find an updated lesson on how to send HTTP/2 based push
notifications on iOS:

https://lessons.livecode.com/m/4069/l/1380237-how-to-send-http-2-based-push-notifications-in-ios

Note that you do not need to do any changes in your app that *receives* push
notifications. The changes regarding the http2 API are only server-side,
i.e. on the way you *send* push notifications to your app.

Kind regards,
Panos

Re: [ANN] New Book: Development Oriented Development

2021-03-17 Thread matthias rebbe via use-livecode
David,

At the bottom of the page at https://payhip.com/features/sell-digital-downloads
Payhip writes "We can handle the generation, storage and issuing of keys to
protect your software."

So it seems there are 2 ways to do this with Payhip.

1. sell a license and the customer gets a download link to download the
software
or
2. sell a license and the customer gets the license (key) from Payhip, either
from a list you've submitted to them or generated by Payhip

If you do not need to rely on Payhip you could also use Fastspring for selling
your software.

I am doing so for years now.
I am using Jacque's tool Zygodact to add a "registration serial key system" to
my program.
When a customer purchases a license from Fastspring, Fastspring posts the order
details after payment to a Livecode Server script on my webserver.
The Livecode Server scripts calls the Zygodact key generator stack using the
submitted data from Fastspring and returns the registration details back to
Fastspring.
Fastspring then submits the registration details to the customer. As Fastspring
is also doing the VAT handling, there is nothing i have to do, except
maintaining my program and accepting the monthly payout. ;)

Regards,
Matthias

Going off at a bit of a tangent, but maybe not entirely OT…

I see that Payhip state you can sell software through their platform.

Andre, do you do that? or any Livecoders for that matter? If so, how is it
going?

Thanks a ton for the kind words my friends :D

In essence, this is a very simple book that is aiming to convey a single
idea: "you can and should create your own tools". I think that is a topic
that we need to explore more.

Just out of interest, do you see this just with the Livecode IDE or also with a

I only see this with LiveCode and not any of my other apps.
