install custom apps from Google Drive, known limits?

2021-04-29 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

I created two Android apps and put them on my Google Drive.
Then I installed one app from there, no problem.
Then I installed the other app from there, also no problem.

But I was very suprised that only the second installed app was
left on my cellphone. The first one was obvioulsy overwritten!?

Before you ask, of course the apps have different names! 8-)

I searched the internet, but did not find any info about this.
Is this a known limitation for "custom apps" installed from Google Drive?

Thanks for any insight!

cameracontrol, knowing the physical resolution of the camera

2021-04-23 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

we have this wonderful "cameracontrol" in LC. :-)

Is there a way to get the physical resolution of the
devices camera BEFORE we do
-> cameracontrollset "el camera", tRect
Or at least its aspect ratio?

Know what I mean?

We definitively need this info to be able to set up a correct
RECT for the control with no "cut off" sides.

native scroller cuts off parts of last line in a field

2021-04-20 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

see subject...

I have a field, I grouped it and in the IDE I show the vscrollbar
of that group. I added two extra EMPTY lines at the end of that field
AFTER the last line, and in the IDE I can read the last line and see the bit
of white space below.

Then I created a native scroller according to the LC lesseon and it works fine.
--
ommand scrollererstellen
put the rect of grp "scrollgroup" into tScrollerRect
put 0,0,(the formattedWidth of group "scrollgroup"),(the formattedHeight of
group "scrollgroup") into tContentRect
   mobileControlCreate "scroller", "links"
   mobileControlSet "links", "rect", tScrollerRect
   mobileControlSet "links", "contentRect", tContentRect
   mobileControlSet "links", "visible", true
   mobileControlSet "links", "scrollingEnabled", true
   mobileControlSet "links", "vIndicator", true
   mobileControlSet "links", "vscroll", 0
end scrollererstellen

on scrollerDidScroll hOffset, vOffset
set the vScroll of group "scrollgroup" to vOffset
end scrollerDidScroll
--
However the lower part of the last line is cut off in the native scroller and I
do not see the two empty lines!?
What am I missing?

Thanks for any hint!

Maybe even several icons in one file like the ICO files on Windows?

Or any link to some useful page?
On "android.developer" they only say -> 48 pixel, but that seems a bit too
small, not?

And I did! :-)

I searched the LC android froum and read a lot of entries until I found the
final hint:
I selected "do not sign" in the Android settings, because I do not have any
Google
Dev ID or whatever (yet), but had to change it to "Sign for development only".

Then I put it on my "Google Drive" and could finally install it from there on
my own device!
Puhhh... :-)

Android Barcode Scanner widget

2021-04-16 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

a problem with the barcode sacanner on Android.
I have this script:
-
on barcodeDetected pBarcode, pID
   put pBarcode["raw value"] into tBarCode

   ## It definitively works
   answer tBarCode

   ## This works, too, fetch data from a good ol' lookup table:
   put tierinfo(tBarCode) into tData
   answer tData

   ## So tData is NOT empty, just a TAB delimited line of text
   if tData = EMPTY then
  exit to top
   end if

  ## The rest is never executed :-/
   mobileVibrate 1

   lock screen
   set itemdel to TAB
set the icon of btn "bild" of grp "tierinfo" to item 3 of tData
put item 5 of tData into fld "name" of grp "tierinfo2"

   ## Hide the widget
   hide widget "barcoder"

   ## Show button "scan again"
   show button "neuscannen"
put item 5 of tData into tSound
   unlock screen
if the environment = "mobile" then
  play (specialfolderpath("resources") & "/" & tSound)
   end if
end barcodeDetected
--
However it does not vibrate nor is the rest of the script is being executed.
What am I missing?

Thanks for any hint.

Android splash and icon

2021-04-16 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

the docs are quite sparse on this, or did I miss this?
But I already found that we need a 48*48 pixel png
(really that small?) for an icon for our android apps.

But what about the "splash"?
What do we need to supply here?

Or ist is enough to "fake" a splash screen with the first card of the stack?

Know what I mean?
App opens shows the first card as a "splash" screen and then automatically
goes to the next card, which is the actual application.

Thanks for any hints!

P.S.
Yes, I bought me a used Samsung Galaxy J7, my first cellphone ever,
and I am currently making my first steps on mobile.

However the phone is just for testing with LC, I do not intend to actually
make phone calls with it. :-)

What I can say so far is, that the "Android Barcode Scanner" widget is really,
really fast in scanning e.g. QR-codes. It recognizes the code before we can
actually see it sharp- and clearly in the preview of the widget. :-D

Now I have to find out how to pass the APK to a customer of mine without
the use of the Google Play Store or something.

Unfortunately my customer does not have a 64bit version of Windows, so
installing "Android Studio" (64 bit only!) is not an option.
I tried all available hints on the internet***, downloaded it and the phone
asked
me if I want to install that thing, I clicked YES and after a second I see:
App was not installed (or what this tells in english)

***"Unknown software" etc...

No dice so far.

I will find a way... :-)

Thank you for your kind offer!

I created a fresh stack with a grp and now it works!?

on mouseUp pMouseButton
create button "b1" in grp "el_testo"
set the loc of button "b1" of grp "el_testo" to the loc of this cd
end mouseUp

No idea what was wrong with my other stack?

Positioning object in a loclocked group

2021-04-15 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

I am sure there is a technical reason for this! 8-)

I have a group set to 600*600 pixel and loclocked.
Inside of the group there are two invisible objects,
a button and a graphic.

Now if I:
...
create btn "b1" in grp "THE group"
## and
set the loc of btn "b1" of grp "THE group" to whateverX,wahteverY
...
where whateverX and Y are definitively inside of that group!

Then the button stays however in the topleft corner of the group.
Even moving the button some pixels to right or down does not work.
Why, oh, why? :-)

Thanks for any insight!

More Android woes

2021-04-07 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

macOS 10.14.6, LC 9.6.2 rc4

Today i removed JAVA 9.x, installed JAVA 8
and "Android Studio.app" on my Mac.

then after hours of despair (why on earth must this be so difficult?)
I could tell LC where the SDk etc. were.

But only with the help of this forum thread and a Bernard, thank you Bernard!

I checked "Do not sign" for my Android app/stack, if that does matter.

I created a virtual device and was so happy that LC finally started to compile
my stack for Android, when suddenly I got an LC error saying:
--
Unable to build app for testing:
unable to locate play service dependency base version 9.0.4
--
So what am I still missing?
Anything else I need to install?

Thanks for any hint!

as I wrote this must have started with Revolution 5.x
Engine <=4.x did not fire these messages with POINTER tool selected.

I was working on a customer stack recently, who had this "hover" effect built
into all of his buttons.
Never noticed this before.

Yes, I think I was a bit too hasty with my report, since fixing this
"inconsequence" will obviously break a lot of stacks.

mouseenter/mouseleave and pointer tool

2021-03-29 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

when the pointer tool is active, "mouseenter" and "mouseleave"
handlers are executed nevertheless!?

I don't this this is correct behaviour!

For the sake of "conceptional continuity" (©Frank Zappa) then all
other mouse handlers should be executed and we don't want that. :-)
All or nothing, right?

I could swear this was not the case in earlier version, so I searched my
archives and found that this must have started with version 5.x of LC

I have an old MetaCard version with Rev engine 4.1 where this does NOT happen.
But DOES with LC version 5.02

What do you think?

you may already know this, but this will not work in a standalone!
We will surely not have write permissions in that folder!

As a workaround I would probably use -> specialfolderpath("temporary")
Or even write the text to -> the tempname

Both are available on all platform and you do not have to think about
deleting that file later, the OS will take care of this. :-)

Android and Mac question

2021-02-23 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

I have one Android related and one MERGEXT related question I already posted in
the forum.
Maybe someone can take a look?

Usage of the Android Barcode Scanner Widget:

Question #1
The docs are not helpful at all.

Using MERGEXT on a Mac to read a QR-code:

According to the docs most merg-stuff is for Mac and iOS***, however I get
and error when using the script!? -> platform not supported???

***At least the commands I use in my example!

Are the (very sparse) docs wrong?
That would be a shame, however I rather suspect I forgot something...

Any hints very welcome.

Hi friends,

quick question, now we have a Mac app, signed and notarized
and what not, is it also neccessary for the DMG we create from
that app for distribution?

Thanks for any insight!

like other Mac things (applications!), RTFD files are actually FOLDERS in
disguise!
So you need to read in FOLDERS, too, and filter them with *.rtfd.

Right-click on an existing RTFD file/folder, select "Show contents" and get
faimilar
with the file structure inside of that package.

this is in any case explicitely forbidden by LC license agreement (the
fineprint)! :-)

But this is not a special IDE feature, one could also use it in a runtime.
So I thought we could use this if not in the IDE, too.

I cannot speak for my customer, but maybe that is the case with him.

However I have a "stock" Mac installation of LC 5.02 on my Mac, which I did NOT
alter in any way.
But here the same thing happened, it worked in the IDE, but not in the runtime!?

And on the Mac there is even not revsecurity.dll, I think this functionality is
in the engine.

the big question is:
Why does it work in the IDE, but not in a runtime made with the same IDE?

Seems that the IDE and the runtime use different "revSecurity.dll"s?!

Server error?

2020-12-30 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

I am currently working on a stack in LC 5.x for a customer.
This stack only loads another stack from a server and displays it.

Works fine in the IDE, but I get this error when trying this in the
standalone, alle externals etc. are in fact present.

The error reads:
--
Cannot connect
error error:1407742E:SSL
routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:tlsv1
alert protocol version
---

Maybe this is a mismatch between the SSL version on the server
and the SSL version in LC5.x?

But then it should also not work in the IDE!? This is very strange.

Any insights and workarounds, if any, are very welcome, thanks!

new datagrid ONLY reorder

2020-12-29 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

I just took a look at the new DG features as shown in the lesson:

After setting -> set the dgEditMode of group "xxx" to true
we have an nice SVG on the left side to delete the row and a nice one on the
right side to reorder
the lines in the datagrid.

Is ist possible to only have the REORDER SVG to be shown?
I only want my users to reorder the lines but not delete them!

The lessons says "No":
...
These properties can be set to the long of of an object or empty.

Setting the "edit mode action select control" will change the control that
appears on the left,
setting the "edit mode reorder control" will change the control on the right.

Setting either of these properties to empty will result in the control not
being displayed!

...
Possible? If yes, how?

I tried with some nifty solutions with a listfield and a nice script, but all
is working fine on the Mac
and NOT on Windows. One time "the mosueline" is not recognized resulting in
empty variable etc...
very annoying, so I want to try this with a datagrid.

export snapshot woverwrites variable?

2020-12-10 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

just found a very strange thing...
I have this script:
...
put dasObjekt() into tObject
## returns in this special case -> image "Bild_1"

flip tObject horizontal
# Overwrite image data
export snapshot from rect(the rect of tObject) of tObject to tObject as PNG

## But now, LC gives an error indication that tObject now contains the DATA of
the new PNG
## Hint: åPNG...
## And yes, the palette in the debugger shows the complete PNG binary data
instead of -> image "Bild_1"
## as the content of tObject

## Doing this again fixes the inconvenience and I can continue:
put dasObjekt() into tObject
...

Funky, funky!?

Getting a real number from scientific notation

2020-11-22 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi friends,

see subject.

I have some values in a CSV with this notation
According to the dictionary I tried:
on mouseUp pMouseButton
   put "4.21911E+11" into tSN
   set itemdel to "+"
put char 1 to -2 of item 2 of tSN into t1
put item 2 of tSN into t2
   put t1*10^t2 into tRes
   #x*10^y.
end mouseUp

But tRes is also in scientific notation -> 1e+11
When I set a breakpoint and doubleclick that value
the little popup palette shows a real number however!?

What am I missing and is this the correct way to do what I need?

Thanks a lot in advance!

filter

2020-11-19 Thread Klaus major-k via use-livecode
Hi all,

I am surely missing something here with filter.

I have a field with some lines like:
...
[500]
text yadda
yadda
[100]
...
And want to filter the field that only the lines with [...] remain in the field.

So I thought
...
filter fld 1 with "[*"
...
would do the job, but that EMPTIES the field!?
Obviously this [ interferes with some REGEX mechanism of filter?
So what should I use now?

Any hints very appreciated!
