Paul,

This is a bug in the ask dialog. Watch as you type the password and you will
notice the first character typed will be at the end because the cursor moves
preceding the first character typed. I went nuts getting the "key password was
incorrect or key associated with not a private key"
See bug 24013.

Hi , all.

Has anybody else had issues creating an existing app in 9.6.9 RC 2 for Android
only ?

In 9.6.8 I am able to push the app straight to my tablet from the IDE without
issue, I can also save as standalone without issue.

In 9.6.8 RC2 when I try to push app to device from the IDE I get "installation
of app failed: [BT:1.8.0] Error: File
C:\users\paul\appdata\local\temp\tmp15.apks' was not found.
Java.lang.illegalArgumentException: File
c:\users\paul\appdata\ocal\temp\tmp15.apks' was not found.
At
com.google.common.base.preconditions.checkArgument(preconditions.java:217)

In 9.6.9 RC2 - If I try to save as a standalone application, I am prompted to
enter the keystore alias and password (same details entered when in
9.6.8) - This results in "There was an error while saving the standalone
application signing failed - key password was incorrect or key associated with
 not a private key"

Go back into 9.6.8 and everything works perfectly.

Thanks.

Html mix with livecode server

2023-02-11 Thread Paul Richards via use-livecode
Hi everyone,

I've been using Livecode for a number of years, and have had no issues
whatsoever - but recently thought I would give Livecode server a go.

Using another webserver, I can do something like this where you can output true
HTML. This example would check if username/password correct and display an
error if not .

$
If lError = true then
Weboutput $

sErrText

$
Endif
Weboutput $

Trying to replicate this in Livecode server isn't proving as "simple"

I can see we need to use the put command, so tried the following:

but this simple line results in an error "

row 84, col 31: put: preposition must be 'before', 'into' or 'after' (alert)
row 84, col 31: if: error in command (alert)
row 84, col 31: script: bad statement (alert)
"
Is there a way of outputting this line in HTML using the put command and
without having to manipulate the line in true livecode script ie: put "mailto:p...@smarttsoftware.co.uk>
https://smarttsoftware.uk

Subject: All software installed, but no QR code scanner on Android device

Hi friends,

last week my customer and me (via TeamViewer) installed the latest Android
Studio on my customers machine, which runs Windows 10 64 bit.
We finally managed this ;-) and tested, she could create an APK which runs fine
on her Android device.

Then we downloaded the neccessary package for the barcode scanner from here
https://dl.google.com/android/repository/google_m2repository_gms_v11_3_rc05_wear_2_0_5.zip

Got the hint from here:
This should efinitively go into the dictionary!

And put it in the right place:
C:/Users/XXX/AppData/Local/Android/Sdk/extras/google/m2repository

We even restarted LC and her computer, but the now created APK does not show
the barcode scanner widget.
No errors when creating the APK, just no qr code scanner on the Android device.

When I compile the same stack on my Mac, everything is fine on the device,
barcode and all.
MY APK even runs fine on HER Android device, barcode and all, so it is not the
devices fault.

What can be causing this resp. what else and where should I check on my
customers machine?
Any hints very welcome!

BTW, my customer is currently using LC 9.4.3 Community Edition.

Best

Klaus

I used to love iWeb for Mac, but that is way too old to run on a current macOS
system.

All I need is one that will allow me to show text, images, short videos, and
put in a few links that doesn’t access databases, that is WYSIWYG.

I’m eyeing Sparkle right now, and considering getting it.

What do you like to use?

Thanks for your recommendations in advance!

RE: [ANN] Release 9.6.5 RC-1

2021-09-23 Thread Paul Richards via use-livecode
You need to run SDK manager from within Android Studio.

Android 11 will be shown in the list to select under platforms. You also need
to go into SDK Tools and update Android SDK Build tools, otherwise you will get
errors on build.

Hope that helps

Hmmm…. I see:
"Add WebAssembly build target in HTML5 deployment”, in the"team is working on
right now” category. I guess, given all the delays and getting HTML5 up, I
won’t hold my breath. But, I’ll certainly be watching for it. Gaads, another
subscription to purchase. But getting real livecode dynamic features on the web
would be a game-changer for me.

RE: Android Studio 3.6 breaks LC Android deployment?

Hi Devin,

I had the exact same issue, but on Windows. Having spent many days on this,
your solution worked - Thank you or sharing. I could not setup Livecode with a

Hi all,

Yesterday I had to install Android mobile tools on my laptop (since I’m having
to work from home now. I downloaded the newest JDK 1.8 and the newest Android
Studio (v. 3.6). (LC v. 9.5.1 on Mac 10.14.6). I spent a frustrating afternoon
of getting an error every time I tried to specify the Android SKD root in LC
Mobile Support preferences. Message was "The chosen folder is not a valid
Android SDK. Please ensure you have installed it correctly, and enabled support
for 9.0 (API 28)”. Finally after installing and reinstalling everything several
times, I decided to drop back to Android Studio v. 3.5.3. Suddenly it was
working again!

Details on the forums here:
http://forums.livecode.com/viewtopic.php?f=32=33636=189292#p189292

It seems like Android Studio 3.6 breaks Android deployment in LC. Before I
submit a bug report, I wondered if anyone else has seen this problem?

Does using the mnemonic key to display a menu on Windows work for anybody else
in LC 9? I just did the following test and all I hear is a beep:

1. Launch LC 9 on Windows 10.
2. Press the ALT key. The letter represented by the mnemonic setting of each
menu in the Toolbar is underlined.
3. Press the letter of one of the menus (e.g. "F"). All I hear is a beep when
the File menu should appear.

I have two calendar widgets, which are obviously compiled (?) for LC 8.
community.livecode.elanorb.calendar.1.0.0.lce
community.livecode.elanorb.calendarBN.1.0.0.lce

Any quick way to make these LC 9 compatible?

I think this is exactly what we need, something like "ask date" :-), so this

Thanks a lot for any hints!

I rebuilt an apk with LC 9.0 today and it runs fine on my Pixel (OS 8.1) but on
my Samsung S5 (OS 6.0.1) it launches to a black screen and immediately crashes.
An answer dialog in preOpenCard never runs, so I don't think the app even fully
loads. The same app built a couple of months ago with LC 9.0dp11 runs fine on
the Samsung.

I thought it might be the change I made to the target version in the manifest,
but the problem still exists when I put the default manifest back in. The
minimum app version is set to KitKat (4.4) which should be fine.

I'm just checking to see if anyone else has had trouble with LC 9.0 on older
phones.

Anyone remembers what to set (to false) BEFORE we post something to an HTTPS in

RE: Error while saving standalone 8 & 9

2018-01-10 Thread Paul Richards via use-livecode
Thank you so much for the pointer Jacqueline, the good news is that I have
traced the issue.

The error message isn't really that helpful as it does in fact relate to a
Widget. The original widget "object" was still attached to a card, so although
every widget had been removed using the Extension Manager, it still left
traces. Having removed the object from the card, the App now saves as a
standalone. Phew!

The first line indicates a low-memory condition. The next few lines show at
least one script error and a missing object. This is all in the standalone
builder script, so a bug report is in order.

Error while saving standalone 8 & 9

2018-01-09 Thread Paul Richards via use-livecode
Trying to save as standalone using LC 9.0 DP11, using a stack that had been
perfectly fine throughout the 8 series. Attempting to deploy to Android only
(although similar errors appear trying to deploy to Windows only)

There was an error while saving the standalone application
91,2026,23
77,2026,23
456,2026,23
572,2026,23
241,2026,1,__LoadStackOnStartup
353,0,0,stack "c:/program files (x86)/Runrev/Livecode Indy 9.0
(dp11)/Toolset/libraries/revsblibrary.livecodescript"
573,2210,1,__LoadStackOnStartup
253,2110,1
490,2110,1
241,2104,1 revSbUpdateDeployParams
353,0,0,stack "c:/program files (x86)/Runrev/Livecode Indy 9.0
(dp11)/Toolset/libraries/revsblibrary.livecodescript"
573,806,1,revSBUpdateDeployParams

I have removed All Widgets that were installed in 8, so the only Widgets
showing are the stock installed Livecode ones. Out of desperation, I deleted
ALL existing cards form the stack so that there was just 1 new blank card (in
case a card was holding onto a widget) but I still get the same error. (new
stacks are all OK )

If I take the original stack and open in LC 8.x and try to save as Standalone,
I get an error saying "could not open module file" ?!

I have also tried to add the new Map Widget and save as Android, but I get yet
another error; "Could not build R.Java"

I appear to be well and truly stuck now, so any help in troubleshooting this
would be very much appreciated.

RE: No screenshot from LC video possible

2017-07-11 Thread Paul Richards via use-livecode
Although this is for a browser and recommended for use by some banks. I have
used this "app/plugin" before on Windows and it does prevent screenshots from
taking place.

https://www.trusteer.com/en/support/rapport-installation-links

I don't know if it would interfere with Livecode, but it might be little
program like this causing you some pain.

Hi Paul, Roger and Hermann,
No DRM involved, all videos are self produced and as Roger said, on most
machines they are playing fine.
The video never is fullscreen, because it is played in a frame within my LC
program.
The video card and it's handling of the video buffer is also my guess, but up
to now, I didn't found an exotic video card on the customer machines and no
thread about issues capturing video screenshots.
Thanks for your brainstorms
Tiemo

Having rotated text with transparent backgrounds could be very nice :)

I was just suggesting the browser widget as the cheap and easy way.

I have not been able to replicate this issue here, but I am using an older
version of Windows.

Is there anyone that can try this on various versions of Windows to see if this
problem is specific to Win 10?

Try typing the following into the message box:

put URL
"http://test_auth:test_p...@downloads.techstrategies.com.au/test_auth/;

If it is successful, you should see "Authentication successful." appear in the
message box.

Thanks,

Anyone know where to look to resolve this error when building a standalone for
Android:

“There was an error while saving the standalone application could not encode
class bundle”

I’ve built many Android apps in the past without a problem. Recently updated
to OSX 10.12.1, and LC 8.1.1. I’ve downloaded and run the latest version of
Android Studio (2.2.3) and installed all updates to both Java and Android.
I’ve set the signing of the standalone to “Sign for development only”.
Whenever I build a standalone, I get a "could not encode class bundle” error.

ANY thoughts would be appreciated!

RE: Windows 10 script editor problem

2016-06-17 Thread Paul Richards
I have had this once before, drove me nuts for a while!

Load stack normally and trigger code editor, If you then hover your mouse over
the Livecode icon on the taskbar, a few smaller windows will appear, one of
which will be the code editor. Right mouse click on that window and select
maximize - This should then display code editor full screen, allowing you to
resize accordingly. Since performing that trick, I haven't had the issue
again.

RE: How script the widget Switchbutton ?

2015-10-27 Thread Paul Richards
Hi Ludovic,

If when you look at the property inspector for each widget, you will see what
options are available (basic TAB - which shows the house icon)

In the case of the Switch, you can see a property for Switch on (hover mouse
over and it will show you SwitchIsOn)

An possible example of use could be:

on switchChanged pSwitchIsOn
   if pSwitchIsOn is true then
  answer "Switch Enabled"
   else
  answer "Switch Disabled"
   end if
end switchChanged

2) Checking for data signal before sending a job to webserver, if no signal,
then store job and keep checking for signal
3) Allow 2 units to access and update same dataset , where each auto update
each other. (normally, only 1 unit would access its own dataset)

That's keeping me busy. Incidentally, this app would not have come about with
Livecode!

Hi all,

I'm really interested to hear about what you're working on at the moment. The
community always seems to have a huge, exciting and varied range of projects
going on, and it's great to hear how people are using LiveCode for work, for
hobbies, for learning or for play!

I'll start:

1. I've been working on the HTML5 engine. For the last couple of weeks, I've
been focussed on getting LiveCode Builder (i.e. widgets) working in HTML5, and
it's been an often rather frustrating business, because it's really hard to
debug asm.js code running in the browser! Every time I think I've nailed the
last bug, another one jumps out of the woodwork.
However, I'm feeling hopeful that by the time of the Global Jam next week,
everyone will be able to use widgets in the browser. And after that,
commercial HTML5...

2. I've added a new test framework to the repository that lets us write
script-only test stacks and run them automatically for every proposed change.
Now I need to get contributors to write tests!

What have you been working on?

  Peter

HTML5 Roadmap?

2015-09-23 Thread Paul Richards
Interesting to see on v8 DP6
(https://github.com/livecode/livecode/pulls?q=milestone%3A8.0.0-dp-6+is%3Apr+is%3Aclosed)
that LCB widgets can be used in HTML5 Deployment
https://github.com/livecode/livecode/pull/2897 (sorry Livecode if you planned
to tell us this soon), great to see what's happening to HTML5, but does
this project have its own roadmap?

It would be nice to see what is currently being worked on, or planned as POST
is something I'm personally waiting for!

Well, activity on GitHub is always a good way of seeing what is currently being
worked on, or what will appear soon :)

The next near term goal for HTML5 is getting a version which works in
commercial (which includes sorting out password protection functionality).

With that we'll have a version for all editions and can then start iterating to
add currently unimplemented functionality (network operations included),
improving code size and improving performance.

Some of these present quite big challenges so it is very hard to give
timescales. That being said, if there are specific features people would like
to see implemented sooner rather than later, please do let us know (network
operations are obviously quite high on the list!) as that will help us order
them appropriately.

Warmest Regards,

Mark.

The whole build without writing code concept is pretty big right now.
But visual programming becomes unwieldy and difficult to follow when
logic gets complex. And it's unlikely that a visual interface could
handle all the options provided by the LiveCode language. But for
simple projects, this could be useful for beginners, or when quickly building
a stack.

Apple's Automator has worked this way for years now, and Audio Hijack
on OS X is another app that recently employed a visual UI:

etc.
with a graphical workflow editor. Tasks are listed on the right,
which you drag onto the workspace and arrange and connect them. Each
task has properties you set by double-clicking to open a panel. This
would be a slick way to build, or at least connect LC objects to their
inputs/outputs/errors. Have a look at this short video. Ignore the
stuff about artwork QC.

I think a modern editor should be something like this... not VB6.

Of course this is all about taste (meaning it's all in the mouth)
so it would seem best, if an all-in-one IDE like the VB6 one is to
be introduced to have it as one of 2 options.

I believe it's more than about taste with LiveCode, it's about
workflow.

LiveCode isn't like other languages, where working with controls is
little more than a drawing program because nothing there is LIVE
CODE.

For us, it's less like building an app inside of an IDE as it is
running an IDE along side our apps. Our windows are separate
because they're real windows, not just inert proxies.

I went into this in greater detail a couple months back:
 http://lists.runrev.com/pipermail/use-livecode/2015-May/214703.html

The Viewer widget needed for that UI will be very nice for us, but I
fear making an IDE based around it, as it would no longer be truly
LIVE CODE.

managed to convince him that it should be in both community and
commercial IDEs. Then in January 2014 we had a stillborn baby and the
next 6 months went down the tube. I did the bare minimum to keep my
clients ticking over and didn’t do anything about lcVCS for Kevin. So
later that year they contacted me saying they would do their own
in-house. Now it appears they half did it and then dropped it…

So my position is I’m now more aware that I was taking on too much
work for little return in the LC community (I started lcVCS just to
get it done not to build and sell to Kevin) and while I enjoy that I
really need to be either earning money or spending time with the
family these days. At least most of the time. I usually put in more

to be in place before I can do that. If you’re keen to help with that
 then I’m keen too ;-)

Subject: LiveCode Server - where to start?

Hi

Although my experience of LiveCode scripting and the production of standalones
is pretty extensive, I have never used any manifestation of LiveCode Server,
but now I want to back a web site with in effect some LiveCode functionality
and to communicate with users of the site (for example respond to a form a user
may have filled in by emailing the user with derived data, while somehow
retaining the info the user put into the form - I am hoping against hope that
this doesn’t mean using a database as I don’t know anything about those
either).

The learning problem seems to me that this is a moving target in that quite big
changes have been made to this incarnation of LiveCode over the years. Looking
at the LC web site, the variety of dates of the tutorial info about this is
quite worrying - there doesn’t seem to me to be a modern (i.e less than a year
old) tutorial about how to set up a server that runs LC stacks, plus an
explanation of what can and can’t be done after the install has happened. Also
I sense that On-Rev (I have access) is the simplest way of doing this as a lot
of stuff is pre-installed, but if I have server space elsewhere (I do) what I
have to do to get a robust implementation?

You can probably tell from the above that I don’t even know the correct jargon
to use when talking about these issues.

Can anyone point me at a tutorial or any other method of getting familiar with
this stuff, as I really need it?

TIA

Just got this from Google. Does anyone know what version of OpenSSL LC uses?

We wanted to let you know that your app(s) listed below statically link against
a version of OpenSSL that has multiple security vulnerabilities for users.
Please migrate your app(s) to an updated version of OpenSSL within 60 days of
this notification. Beginning 7/7/15, Google Play will block publishing of any
new apps and updates that use older, unsupported versions of OpenSSL (see below
for details).

REASON FOR WARNING: Violation of the dangerous products provision of the
Content Policy and section 4.4 of the Developer Distribution Agreement.
The vulnerabilities were fixed in OpenSSL versions beginning with 1.0.1h,
1.0.0m, and 0.9.8za. To confirm your OpenSSL version, you can do a grep via: $
unzip -p YourApp.apk | strings | grep OpenSSL

For more information about the vulnerability, please see this OpenSSL Security
Advisory. To confirm that you’ve upgraded correctly, upload the updated version
of the app(s) to the Developer Console and check back after five hours. For
other technical questions about managing OpenSSL, please see
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/mailing.openssl.users.

In 60 days, we will not accept app updates containing the vulnerabilities. In
addition, we will reject new apps containing the vulnerabilities.
Note: while the issues may not affect every app that uses OpenSSL versions
prior to 1.0.1h, 1.0.0m, or 0.9.8za, developers should stay up to date on all
security patches. Even if you think that specific issues may not be relevant,
it's good practice to update any libraries in your app that have known issues.
Please take this time to update apps that have out-of-date dependent libraries
or other vulnerabilities.

Before publishing applications, please ensure your apps’ compliance with the
Developer Distribution Agreement and Content Policy. If you feel we have sent
this warning in error, visit this Google Play Help Center article.
