Yeah really...

This shows a real gap in the Apple infrastructure, how does engineering and
design of the access the new password UI -- how does it *not* get conveying to
Apple Developer Support? I had three phone conversations with someone looking
at my screen, and they still had no idea of how it worked.

Re: Apple Wants Application Specific Password

2019-03-19 Thread Sannyasin Brahmanathaswami via use-livecode
Wow! It too easy.

1) You do not have log out of the personal ID with iCloud on your Mac.,
2) Xcode: you must sign in using the develop account Apple ID and it's password
(not app specific password)
3) Open Application Loader from "Open Developer Tools"
4) Here is where Apple support has a gap with communication. They kept saying
" If you are able to input a password at the prompt…" But there was no prompt!
5) In upper left corner of Application Loader, I see what looks like a label
saying "Himalayan Academy".
6) On hunch I clicked it. Lo! I have the chance to Log Out of the current
Apple ID
7) I log out, and am prompted for a new App ID and pass word
8) Again, an on hunch, I enter the develop Apple ID and the App-Specific
password
9) The app goes through!

There is nothing in all the documentation that explains this! Apple has broken
its own HIG with "mystery meat" UI.

It just that App Loader has it *own* log in, and that requires the App Specific
password.

Thank you for you reply. I apologize for the delayed response was we have been
experiencing a much higher than normal volume of calls and emails.

If you are able to input a password at the prompt, any created passwords should
be found under your Apple ID information through https://appleid.apple.com.

If you are not seeing an app-specific password prompt, you may wish to use
Xcode Archives organizer. You can find more information about this process here:

I did the thing where I created a new account on the Mac with my

Just for you and really just for you ;) , i´ve opened my iCloud settings on my
Mac and logged out from iCloud.
I then opened xCode and removed my iCloud Account/Developer Account in

After that i opened ApplicationLoader from within Xcode / Open Developer Tools.

I´ve entered my Application Specific Password (my email address was already
visible) and was able to login.

It's the reason for me. Dealing with the App Store is painful, time
consuming, and I charge extra if a client wants an iOS app just to cover
the amount of time it takes to get a product through their system. And that
was before 2FA. Just getting my account set up with 2FA took hours and
several interactions with Apple support. Then my client had the same issues.

After the deadline Apple finally published a support document on how to use
two different Apple IDs when you only have a single Apple device. Before
that it was impossible to comply.

Re: OT: Apple Wants Application Specific Password

2019-03-19 Thread Matthias Rebbe via use-livecode
Hi BR,

when 2FA is enabled then you have to create at least one app specific password
when you want to connect from a program to your Apple Account.
In your case the ApplicationLoader is such a program. What you have to to is
the following:

1.Log in into your Apple Account
https://appleid.apple.com/account/manage

2. under security you will see on the right side a text something like
"Application specific Password" and below of that text a link "Create Password"
or similar expressions. I see just the German expressions, so i might be wrong
with the English ones.

3. When clicking on that link you can create such a App Specific Password. This
can be used for any app that connects to your account.

In my case i´ve created 2 of that passwords, one for programs that have access
to my iCloud calendar and contacts. And the 2nd one is for my development
tools, currently this is only the application loader.

Hope this helps.

Matthias

OT: Apple Wants Application Specific Password

2019-03-19 Thread Sannyasin Brahmanathaswami via use-livecode
Bottom line here: Does anyone know about Apple's new requirement for
App-Specific Password in the application loader?

Long story:

If you are an Apple developer, then you gone through some more hoops lately.
First it was getting 2-factor authentication on our enterprise/team developer
account, which is a different email address/Apple ID that my personal one on
own MacBook Pro.

According long support calls, it's not enough to have an apple ID on the web.
You have to log out of iCloud as your personal ID, the long in as the team ID,
then you have to wait 2-Days!.. then you can register a second device (I used
text msg on my phone) two get 2-factor for the team ID through my MacBook Pro.
So, far so good, on my mac, Iog out of iCloud as the team id and long back in
as my personal ID. OK… after 4 day, I think I got it…

Log in the developer interface with the apple ID for the team, get get a text
msg, use the code, tell Apple that he can trust this browser for 30 and
yay/whew, I can update profiles and I am thinking "Ok I finally wire, after 6
days I can finally post my app through the application loader!" I build the
app.ipa with Jacque Airlaunch (Thank you Jacque!) and in the latest Xcode,
attempt to load the app. Now it asked an application specific password!

It happens to Sat, so I can't call Apple til Monday, I called the yesterday.
"oh, that a new requirement. Go the Apple ID of the team account… you see there
the app-specific IDs? App an new label and copy the password. Keep it safe. Now
reboot Xcode and see it you can enter it."

Well guess what. Application Loader has now field for loading an application
specific password! The tech support young girl from Colorado, goes off one to
"talk with my advisors". Ha!@ know has a clue what to do, exact that some new
ruling about 3-party app development tools requiring app-specific password and
you can only have 25 of them. The support team doesn't have a clue what I
should to. They say they will get back to me…. I get an mail from someone is
says he is taking of the case. He says

" As I understand an app-specific password is being requested when you are
attempting to open binary in Xcode or Application Loader.

We are continuing to research your request and I will follow up with you as
soon as we have additional information."

Now, 10 days away from when I was ready to upload my App. I can't.

I am still in Apples Snake Pit. Just for a laugh I got an invitation to join
WWDC19 Conference. My advice would to stay away. I feel like a mouse slowly
being enveloped by a Python. Now I know why many developers refuse to develop
for iOS

Meanwhile I updated the Android app in just ½ hour it took me the re-familiar
myself with Google straight forward procedures.
