@Mark

This is the silence(*) that is the same as is with LC (without
LCFM) since one year.

What about *some* progress at least with

• an up-to-date libbrowser/browser widget
that *works* on latest OS of Mac/Win/linux(ubuntu)?
• full keyboard and mouse events support in HTML standalones?
• simple keyboard support in LCB (keypress)?

Even rather easy (for you) requests as saving/opening a stack
to/from a variable are in the pending jobs (if not in trash)...

(*)Except the admirable work of Panos as 'caretaker'.

I have no access to the "device" (I'm assuming you mean server?), so I
merely tested what I can test, to see if I was able to reproduce the
error you'd reported.

There's a 'Test' button in the revMenubar stack to the right of the
'Dictionary' button with
a sort of cogwheel icon.

It does not seem to do anything. A bit sneakily the button is referred
to as "Deploy" and contains
an extremely uninstructive script:

on mouseUp
 revIDEDeployAction
pass mouseUp
end mouseUp

I have been unable to locate a function "revIDEDeployAction" in the stack,
the card, or in the custom props of either, and am beginning to wonder
if it is stored in another stack
that loads at startup, or is just a 'dud' at present.

Tom, you understand this so much better than me - could you explain whether and
what upgrades on the Apple side I can do and still work with the current
version of LC (5.0.2). Presumably you've seen the email from Apple "Update your
apps for iOS 5.1". Can we? I understand your point about the Simulator (just),
but I don't know really understand your 'app bundle' point and what prevents LC
being compatible with the new xCode.

Really the mother ship should explain all this, but I'm not holding my breath,
so I would be grateful for any clarification, and I suspect I will not be the
only one.

Makes me think of one of my favorite cartoons: two women sitting in an office,
each at a desk, each with playing cards laid out in a solitaire arrangement.
One of them has just picked up the phone and is saying, "Yes, our computers are

What is the full filepath to your SDK folder in the LiveCode
preferences? It should have "android-sdk" in the name. For example, I
put my copy inside the Developer folder at the root of my hard drive.
The file path to my android SDK in LiveCode preferences is:

/Developer/android-sdk-mac_x86

I see. That wasn't clear, since he said the virtual device worked. But
yes, the emulator must be up and running first before LiveCode will list
it. The OP seemed to indicate that was the case though. Maybe Ludovic

When it happens to me, it means that the device is not mounted correctly
in debug mode. LiveCode will see any device if the adb tool does. Open a
new terminal window, cd to the platform-tools folder and type:

 adb devices

If that command does not list the serial number of your device, then
LiveCode can't see it either. You'll need to make sure that adb tools
recognizes it before you can use the LiveCode interface.

I have never had LiveCode fail if adb can see my tablet. But I have had
many occasions where adb can't see my tablet. Sometimes I need to reboot
it after turning on debug mode.

Then, animated gif rendering was updated in all platforms.
Previously (in version 4) these animations showed black
trails. In that version, setting the property named
"constantMask" does not helped to fix the rendering
problems.

Thanks again for your reports!

Re: Test stack for Gif animation and Background Patterns

2011-05-11 Thread BNig
Hi Alejandro,

your script does work on MacOSX in its original form. The repeat until
mouseClick does stop the animation.
I retested and it works.

What does not work in your original stack is that the stack is frozen, i.e.
it can not be moved while the animation is running. You can move the stack
once you add the "with messages" to the wait command.

Sorry to be unclear on this. Somehow I had the impression the stack was not
stopping the animation in its original form when clicking.

Kind regards

Bernd

...black trails... I'll check tomorrow when I'm back at my work

Ok, I understand. It's surprising that this code works fine (without change)
in Windows XP and Fedora. Only in Mac OS X this code fails to stop the
background animation.

Could that be a bug that only appears in Mac OS??

Re: Test stack for Gif animation and Background Patterns

2011-05-10 Thread BNig
Hi Alejandro,

I used Livecode 4.6.1

The animation looks good, no black stripes. In the original dimensions of
your stack the processore usage is about 24% when animating, 10% when
"idling" (with the gifs animated without the backgroundpattern.

>Interesting enough, this code change does not show any improvement in XP.
>Maybe in Windows 7 or Vista, but not in XP.

The changes I made were not for speed or processor load, just for Livecode
to do its cleanup and make the stack responsive to user interaction like
dragging the stack around and accept mouse events.

I had stacks in a long repeat loop and a lot of image processing that led to
an increase in memory usage and eventually a crash in livecode. The crash
was gone once I used send in time. This apparently gave Livecode enough time
to release memory etc.

Kind regards

Bernd

In Windows XP, processor usage raise from 01 to 09,
but memory usage barely goes from 35mb to 40mb.

Interesting enough, this code change does not show any improvement in XP.
Maybe in Windows 7 or Vista, but not in XP.

This is a good explanation. Recently, running this stack:
http://revonline2.runrev.com/stack/577/Kaleidoscope-Deluxe
I was unable to stop the circle animation showed in third card...

Yes, "send in time" is a construct that Scott Rossi demostrated in this stack:

Re: Test stack for Gif animation and Background Patterns

2011-05-10 Thread BNig
Hi Alejandro,

tested your stack in Livecode 4.6, MacOSX 10.6.7, MacBook Pro Intel i5 2.53
GHz

Processor usage in full stack size 1920x1200 37%
no crash but unresponsive stack.

changed:
repeat until the mouse is down
-- code
  wait tFrameDelay millisecond with messages
-- code
  wait 0 milliseconds with messages
  end repeat

I think the way you coded it you choked Livecode since it had no chance to
do a cleanup in the repeat loop.

With the changes I made the stack is responsive and the animation stops as
soon as the mouse is down. Previously the mouseClick did not stop the
animation for me.

I still would do this rather in a send in time manner instead of a repeat
loop.

Kind regards

Bernd
