I don't know of any VoIP apps for Mac, but I can tell you that a video
conferencing program with text chat is possible. I started developing WebCam
LIVE to tackle this issue, until WebCams were introduced in free Instant
Messengers.

One general solution would be to implement both. A non-mac will not
send the apple event, so handling that event will not have any effect

that you can post the pictures onto cards for printing) and to print
the card into a region on the page (using the print command), then have

EnhancedQT external to convert the JPEG to a Windows Bitmap, but it will
require your users to have QuickTime
