I'm probably being stupid, but what log would that be (on either Mac or
Linux)? (BTW I possibly didn't make clear that this isn't in a CGI context -
this is a standalone app.)

Hiya,
I haven't used it over X11 but it works well over VNC.
I'm thinking of trying Remote Desktop (the MS app on the Mac) as
Ubuntu also has rdp: I've found that performs better than VNC in a
lot of cases (I've done rdp from Linux to Windows and vice versa and
it works very well).

I changed a week ago my email address.
Since then I have a google one, and use the IMAP protocol

Ben,
you can work this out with X11 Forwarding instead of SSH. It might
have some security holes to fix instead of using the xhost + command
that I used (that opens your X11 server to anyone).
You can check http://homepage.mac.com/soapdog/X11forwarding.html
So I don't know if what you were

Tuesday,
A while back there were some questions about a batch audio file

Found one at last, for Macintosh:

and another, for Linux variants:

Ok, so I poked around in the MySQL user manual and found the syntax
for transactions. It seems that if you simply execute an insert or
update without initiating a transaction, the data goes right into the
SQL database at that moment. If you intend to do transactional updates
you have to

I too have a google email account, but I don't like the way Google
installs it in my MAC Mail - you get incoming messages in your In tray
and read them there, but they are not marked as read by Google.
This is because Google also installs a fully separate GOOGLEIMAC

There's also the command line tool 'sox' (http://

basis for a rev-based batch converter

Perhaps you would prefer using POP3 to access your GMail. You can set
a preference to have gmail keep, archive or delete messages as they
are downloaded to your mail client. If you don't want to share the
same mailboxes are your web-based interface, POP access may be more up
your alley
