It works fine for apps internal to OS 8/9 but their networking leaves a lot to
be desired. Your local area network will not be visible to Sheepshaver, and vis
versa.

If you mean that Sheepshaver will not run because the latest OS will not run
classic, then I believe you are mistaken. In fact I know you are (if that was
what you meant) because I am running it right now in Snow Leopard. Again, no
native networking though.

BTW I am running Sheepshaver with version 8.6. I believe that was very stable.

Hi Bob,
Hmm, works under Snow Leopard. Nice! That's the best news I've heard in quite
some time!
Thanks,
Rick

I have some personal experience setting up SheepShaver and documented it
here with a set of instructions:

Granted it was several years ago, but SheepShaver hasn't had a recent
upgrade AFAIK...

Hi,
thanks for all your answers.
I installed it now here with Mac OS9, which was the only version i could find
in my cellar.
The software TextureScape runs w/o any crashes so far. Only Rebirth RB-338
crashes.
Now i will try install and run Pixar Typestry. If this runs also, i will be

I just checked the TCP/IP setting and it looks like they bridge their own

I don't use it often (I use it to occasionally take a look at an old

I certainly don't resent the space it takes on my disk, by contrast with

Hi,
is there anyone on the list who uses SheepSaver under Mac OS X?
How is the performance? How the compatbility? I have here an old program
(TextureScape) which
I used very long time ago on a PowerMac9500. The PowerMac does not exists
anymore, but i would
like to use that program.
Hi Matthias,
SheepShaver works perfectly, except for the crashes.

Hi Matthias,
I believe the problem is that SheepShaver, (which I think
is the correct name), ran only under 9.04 which was a very
buggy version of OS 9 which crashed frequently.
You are also correct that 10.4 was the last environment
which allowed Classic to run, so you have a double
