I just want to chime here too - indeed nice work!
I'm glad I could be of any help.

Hi,
I have been using Futon to create views and today though I can create
new views eg _design/test/_view/ where test is new, I can then not
edit or create new views in test after that.
I get a pop up of
The document could not be saved: Document update conflict.
I also had the View
Just to add, I notice there is a 409 error in the logs - a conflict when
the _rev value is not part of the post. But I am doing this via Futon
which should handle this (and has done previously).

John
Odd, sounds like Futon is confused. Try clearing your browser cache
and reloading the page. (That or someone else is editing the document
in another window)

I was talking about general views. By ignoring, I guess you mean
ignoring them in the map function? Absolutely, that would work. My
only concern with that solution is that my orchestrator will have to
patch the map functions when the sharding topology changes. This feels
a bit hacky.
I've now
map:
emit(doc.created, doc.value);
reduce:
_stats
then query with startkey and endkey appropriately. This will give you
the sum of all values between the two keys and the number of rows.
Divide one by the other to derive mean average. This will work for
startkey/endkey's that span hours, days
If you split your data out into a list like [year, month, day, hour, minute]
and used that as the key for the map you’d be able to query with different
group levels to get averages at different granularities.

Thanks, but I CouchDB complains that I don't use valid JSON. I need a
composed key as an array, how can I achieve this?
