We introduced support for JSON formatted credentials in Mesos 0.20.0, we
should now deprecate the old 'new line' format.
There has been a discussion around defining and documenting a deprecation
cycle for Mesos and for now there is soft consensus in a six months period

Hello,
As JSON based credential files do not work as intended. We are planning to
change the protobuf Credential message 'secret' field from 'bytes' to
'string' in 0.26.
This raises two main questions:
- Is anyone using JSON based credential files?
and
- Is anyone using 'secret' with non UTF-8

If the initial subscription HTTP connection fails the scheduler will not be
'subscribed' ( or its old equivalent : 'registered' ) so it won't be
possible to continue making other POST requests. Please refer to the
disconnections part of the doc for more details on already 'subscribed'
