class org.apache.shale.component.Token, method public void
validate(FacesContext context) i saw the following:

I think the problem is that he has enclosed everything within f:verbatim,
when he only wanted the h3 tag to be enclosed.

You've stumbled across what most people find is the single biggest
annoyance with JSF (at least in version 1.1). Please read this very
important article by Hans Bergsten[1]. You may want to consider using
Clay or Facelets or JSF 1.2.

field empty, the page is redisplayed with error message. Then i fill
the field with some text and click on the submit button. There i get
