One of my machines' guests do not exit properly when "shutdown -h now"
is run from the guest. Instead the guest locks up forever and needs a
kill -9.
The offending machine runs 2.6.8.10-skas3 host, 2.4.27-1um guest, and
is an SMP machine (P4 HT).

Yes, upgrading would partially help. Alternatively, using a non-NPTL glibc is a
workaround (but things get slower); using the latest, ~x86 glibc, built without
the np

As a quick reminder, Marion and Bill are trying to get i386 fedora
core 3 running under uml (2.6.4, with the i386 emulation code) on ford
(x86_64). The uml binaries don't have TLS support, so we've renamed
all of: /lib/tls. /usr/lib/tls, and /usr/X11R6/lib/tls
