Thanks Tony. It was something in the UML Kernel that was not compiled
in. Dont know what off hand. Just used a known working .conf.

Where did you download the base image from? Can you mount via loopback
and verify that it is correct and readable? Finally, do you have the
correct file system support (ext3, jfs, etc.
