I would recommend to run convert command in console and check the output
If PDF is huge (or pages are complex) you might need to fine tune
ImageMagic
According to office documents conversion (including TXT) they are converted
to PDF then to PNG

It is probably the number of pages / slides, then. The pptx file sent to me
has 96 slides of text points.
They duplicated the previous slide for each change instead of using
transitions on one slide. It is 488k.

Here’s my two cents worth on this. As you mentioned “some” I would refrain from
uploading large pdf files... I am referring to files with a large quantity of
pages... which will require more ram. If it is a high quality layered pdf, I
would also suggest flattening it with whatever pdf program
