Hi All,
Just to bring some closure to this then :-) In the end we have
downgraded back to 4.3. (Restored db, management server, /opt/cloud/bin/
files on xenservers to how they were just prior to upgrade)
Everything is now working fine again, apart from we still have the bug we
upgraded to get

I would highly recommend looking at the Ceph storage instead of using too many
tiers of complications. Ceph integrates well with kvm and cloudstack and has
proven to work very well over the years.

Hi folks,
After getting feedback couple weeks ago on the cloudstack days, Karen Vuong,
Giles and a couple others who volunteered to help discussed with the Linux
foundation who is organizing the event.
We are going to take a bit of a gamble, cancel the event in Budapest and make

Hi,
can somebody tell me what the best workflow is to extract snapshots? As far as
I know a direct extraction of a snapshot is not possible.
The VM needs to run all the time during the extraction!
Here is my workflow:
1. create snapshot of volume
2. create new volume via snapshot

Hello all
According to the documentation I found, the virtual router should run
a DHCP server for the guest network. On Cloudstack 4.5 I can - however
- - not find a DHCP daemon running there, neither is there any installed
on the virtual router VM.
Hello Daniel,
Cloudstack 4.5 is not recommended to deploy due to bug at VPC. I don't
know exactly if it is connected to VR or CS code, but better wait for 4.5.1
release or deploy other stable release that is officially announced.
BR,
Vadim.

I am having trouble attaching a volume to an existing VM. Adding an extra
volume during the instance creation works fine. It does not seem to matter
what state the VM is in eg. stopped or running I receive the same error.
Anyone know what this means? I can not find any further information on

That looks like the correct flow, snaps cant be downloaded. The download
URL expires in about 30 minutes ( I could be wrong here).

Disclaimer : this is not great solution and do not try this on a production

but if you really want to create a vm or volume of a snapshot ...
you can create a snapshot in xencenter and extract the snapshot as a file

convert to vhd and upload as a new template or volume.
this might be a better question for the dev list. I believe monitoring
events will let you know when that deployment is triggered but by then it
might be too late. You might want to modify the UI input field to either
prevent upper case letters or make the string lower case. might even be

I dont think there is a creative solution here. It looks like users are
forced to use daily/weekly and nothing in between. It does look like a
valid enhancement request... if you were inclined to file one, you can do

After you have started the service, check netstat to verify if port 8080 is
actively listening.
Also, check mgmt. logs for any errors (quite often, there is an issue with DB
connection).

I met the same issue before. Cause under vmware cluster ha enabled, so the
vm mirgrated among hosts. You can check the host which vm lives in cloud
databases, and compare to the actual host, if mismatchrd, changing the db
table, thrn all works fine.

Hi Vadim,
You really need the 4.5 branch for XenServer 6.5
Your best bet is to build 4.5.1 from source as 4.5.0 has a bug specific to VPC.
4.5.1 RC1 is currently being voted on but I think there might be a second round
of voting so building from source should get you the latest code Base.
