If your primary storage is direct attached in hosts, then the only storage system affect would be the secondary. This would require SSVM re-creation.It seems that you could indeed make the changes with everything up and running without affecting your clients VMs. However, pay attention to snapshots

Benjamin, Keep in mind a storage network in the context of CloudStack *only means secondary storage* - i.e. your primary storage is not affected per se. As a result adding a new storage network only has implications for how management (in the case of VMware) and SSVM access the secondary storag
