In case anyone is reading this thread. I found a Red Hat document that mentioned using an lvm_conf command to change lvm.conf settings and disabled lvmetad. I also found a message warning to disable lvmetad in /var/log/messages. I had disabled write_cache_state=0 but it appears that use_lvmetad
