thanks for the answer, but the syntax seems to be correct as in about 99% of the
requests, the PDF is generated correctly.
I checked the XSL file in XMLSpy and it seems to be correct. I use GVim for writing
xslt's, also notepad style but more extended :-).

for me I found out that when I get this error while tranforming some XML
via XSL-T I misspelled any of the XSL-T markup, for example:

In this case I receive the NullPointerException without any hint where
to find the error in the stylesheet.
