Hmm. I think I had the same with a Gentoo Linux installation recently.
I thought it was just my X settings or so. (I didn't have the time
yet to look into it).
So I guess this isn't Dragonfly-related.

I actually had a similar (or the same) problem from a build that's about a
month old. I couldn't solve the problem and have been too busy lately

It wasn't a release but about a 2 weeks old HEAD.
which gcc and CFLAGS do you use to build the kernel/modules? Could you show
any relevant lines from make.conf? do you use ACPI?
