A collegue of mine has a similar problem, he told me rsync in version 3
has support for iconv and will convert filenames between different
charsets. Haven't tried it myself, though.

Specify UTF8 as locale when mounting the filesystem? See -L.

copying utf8 to msdos

2008-07-03 Thread Simon 'corecode' Schubert

Hey,

does anybody know how to copy files with UTF8 filenames to a msdos fs? On
accented letters and Umlauts cp/rsync complain "Invalid argument" and
don't create/copy the file.

cheers

Call for pkgsrc help - Firefox broken

2008-07-03 Thread Hasso Tepper
Recent Firefox (security) update to 2.0.0.15 in pkgsrc broke it for
DragonFly:

make[4]: Leaving directory
`/scratch/www/firefox/work/mozilla/security/nss/cmd/shlibsign/mangle'
cd DragonFly1.13_OPT.OBJ ;
sh /scratch/www/firefox/work/mozilla/security/nss/cmd/shlibsign/./sign.sh
/scratch/www/firefox/work/mozilla/dist \

DragonFly \

/scratch/www/firefox/work/mozilla/dist/lib/libsoftokn3.so
/scratch/www/firefox/work/mozilla/security/nss/cmd/shlibsign/DragonFly1.13_OPT.OBJ/shlibsign
 -v -i /scratch/www/firefox/work/mozilla/dist/lib/libsoftokn3.so

make[3]: Leaving directory

make[2]: *** [libs] Error 2

I don't have time to investigate it, but I think that the package is
essential for DragonFly users. So please, if you have time and
interest ... I can take care of pushing patches to the pkgsrc.
